Obama's record
Obama voted to extend the Patriot Act and he voted to fund the war. I don't ever remember hearing him give a speech on the floor of the Senate opposing it. Why is he being passed off as "progressive" and Hillary "moderate" when Obama voted the same as Hillary? The real difference between them is the high number of voted Obama skipped.

Peace.
Socsandtwigs-
You are right my friend. The Republicans will hit Hillary--and hard--on mandates, but I think it is an argument that needs to be had. The collateral costs to our economy from the use of emergency care and the like make them necessary. It is going to be a hard fight, but I have done much, much research and I cannot think of another way to stabilize the health care industry and bring costs back down. I am sensing that many Republicans are beginning to understand this as well.
I am sorry that I engaged a couple of you in the way that I have tonight. I really despise this inter-party parsing more than I can tell you. The problem is that I am very passionate about Sen. Clinton's candidacy. And I do not think it is inappropriate to be excited because the Democratic Party has a woman and a black man competing for the nomination. Symbolism is often as important as ideology and twenty years from now it will make a difference to the general pathos of our society whether or not we were willing to elect a woman or a black man. It will mean much to many, then and now.
So forgive my tone and know that I am an "ebullient" supporter of the first woman to have an actual chance to prove to society that SHE does have what it takes...
PEACE! And vote people, even if it is for someone other than my candidate or party.

children promoting Obama
what is this crap! what does age, race, gender have to fricken do with it.
I'm not a child by any means, but I am thrilled to have the gen x's, etc finally enthused about something. Maybe that alone should tell us something!!!!
When in doubt throw "dust 'em off" - right out of the Clinton rule-book. Congrats!

@Robert Sandy
Thank you for that.

Electability
Re: "There are many reasons why I have chosen to vote for Barack Obama, but the most important one, is electability."
There is no proof that he is more electable than Clinton. I'm sure being in Ted Kennedys pocket will help win over those red states.

That's right: "to garnish the wages of workers who REFUSE to buy health insurance to ACHIEVE COVERAGE for ALL AMERICANS."
ALL AMERICANS, you idiot. And Clinton also spoke in length about making it far more affordable than it is now for folks. I'll gladly pay for that than what I'm paying NOW which is an outrage.
You're on the money. Health reform WILL come. There is no way it can't , current system is bankrupting an already bankrupt country where truckdrivers have paid higher percentages of taxes than the Republican oligarchy for 8 years.
If John McCain is President than I will promise you that employer provided insurance is a thing of the past and you will be on your own without national insurance. Rather employers will throw a thousand or two in a HSA for you, which, of course if you really have a health problem means nothing. (and over the years the amount they co-contribute will steadily vanish much like with 401k's).
Think I'm making this up to scare folks? I'm not. Look at Microsoft's health trend predictions for starters.
http://www.microsoft.com/industry/healthcare/providers/businessvalue/housecalls/5trends.mspx
So the real question is who do you want reforming healthcare, Hillary, a Democrat, or the people who have brought you the job market and economy for the past 8 years.
Becasue Obama will NOT win even if he wins the primary.

I'm a liberal AND I bought the Massachusettes insurance (my employer paid half) because it was MANDATED.
But I hated it because I still ended up with a $5,000 bill that I had to pay out of pocket. For me earning $18,000 per year that was almost a third of my yearly income. For two dental visits.
So my point is that if I HATED this mandatory crap insurance, then conservatives will surely hate it more. Yes, Clinton says she'll bring the price down, but so does Obama. If we're forced to buy it though, realistically however much it costs you'll be stuck.
So when you're paying out of your paycheck every month to help fund an HMO that later denies you care for a health need (which they can and will) you might not think her plan is so wonderful.
I'm just saying....this is a bandaid on a gangrenous leg....the health care system needs better than mandates. I think Obama's plan eases us into it and as consumers gives us more options.
I'm a liberal, but I think that Clinton's plan will hurt her in the general election because people will hear "garnish my salary" and they'll know about the crappy health plans out there that deny care--and they're going to vote for McCain.
Just something to consider.

@anonymous - Precisely
There is no proof that he is more electable than Clinton. I'm sure being in Ted Kennedys pocket will help win over those red states.
Not to mention the NARAL and Moveon.org endorsements and the fact that all his support in the primaries came from black people accusing whites of being racist and those infamous latte-drinking white male liberals.
-
Actually
If Mrs. Clinton can just (please God) defeat this egomanic and his nutty supporters in the primary, Obama getting the endorsements of the Kennedy's, Naral, Kerry, Al Sharpton, moveon.org, ad nauseum will probably help her a good deal.

I disagree. Mass is a wealthy state with a lot of high paid professionals. I live in "red America" and most of the "heartland" looks like a fleet of sinking ships. People here have no coverage and are going bankrupt all over. A lot of folks here are having second thoughts about GOPsters and their robber baron politics.
If we can nominate someone who can run to the center left instead of the hard left with endorsements of every super liberal tank out there, and if the left just once, doesn't stay home and pout because we didn't nominate someone to the left of Lenin, and if Obama can grow up and encourage blacks to vote for HRC instead of being furious (which I doubt) than we might just pull it off.
I don't dare hope though really. It would defy 30 years of history.
