When did we become like Syria?

As I watched a surreal torture case unfold in a U.S. courtroom, the line between dictatorship and democracy seemed to disappear.

    when did you become like syria?

    ... the day after the declaration of independence. the native americans and mexicans will agree, so will the people of south and central america. the phillipinos will agree, and the vietnamese. well, the millions you turned into corpses would agree.

    the reason there's not much difference between dictatorship and the usa, is because the usa is not a democracy. california is a democracy, and many other states, but not the federal government.

    when they figure this out, maybe civilized americans will change this situation. but they are maybe too few, compared to the seemingly endless supply of american thugs.
