Letters to the Editor

This letter is associated with the following article:
Created to protect the slave states, it is championed now by conservatives who fear the power of America's true majority. It's time to ditch the antiquated way we choose presidents.
  • Take Two...

I tried to put some real content and thoughts down, and there were no responses worth replying to, so lemme try this...

One catch with a direct transition to a popular vote is pretty simple and obvious.

There are far more uninformed Americans than informed Americans. It's not an easy thing to gauge quantitatively, but it's pretty evident to anyone who does their homework.

So if you favor the complete abolition of the EC, you MUST believe that the far larger group of UNINFORMED Americans who vote because they like a guy will do a better job of picking a President than the existing system.

    Right?

Watch out for that. It's a dangerous idea.

(Glad to see there are plenty of other readers who agree that the article itself was kinda weak, regardless of agreement/disagreement with the premise.)
