Keith, Kudos to you, and one little kick in the ass for you too
You have an entire hour for "Countdown."
But you waste at least 20 minutes of the news hole with absolute bullshit. Top Ten Soundbites, Keeping Tabs, and ... usually the #1 Story are all mindless claptrap and bullshit. (Paris, Paris, Paris)
You are without a doubt the finest editorialist in the television news business. You bring your "commentaries" in bare-knuckle style, unafraid to use the depth and breadth of the First Amendment. You pull no punches.
You are a serious person. So be serious. Use your whole hour of airtime for stories with gravitas. There is enough entertainment crap flying out of our flat-screens on every other channel. You are insulting your own intelligence, as well as mine.

I am disgusted by the likes of HornetDriver, since I believe he represents at least half of the military officers in the US armed forces. This cohort has a one-track mind: Designate enemies and kill them and break their toys. Fund absurdly over-priced weapons systems that have little relevance to the tasks at hand, wear them out, lobby for more new toys (weapons),invent new enemies, wash, rinse, repeat. Cover your cars with those meaningless, useless little yellow/camo/red-white-blue 'ribbon' magnets, raise a toast to your fallen comrades, mindlessly recite 'Freedom isn't Free', then lobby for an even greater surge, permanent bases in the occupied lands,and invading yet more countries, most of which, coincidentally, have oil.
Hoot and holler when idiots call our wars 'crusades' and say 'we will win because my god is bigger than his god' and fail to know one word in any Middle Eastern language or know one iota of Middle Eastern history before 1991 or one iota of knowledge about Islam, or any other religion that isn't Christianity.
Cheer for endlessly inflating military budgets while we print money and sell all the IOUs to other countries.
Blindly vote straight party line republican, as long as the candidate says the words 'god', 'freedom', 'terrorism', and lower taxes' enough. As long as these magic matras are endlessly repeated, the politicians can lie, cheat, steal, and unjustly destroy and kill with impunity. If the Constitiution or inconvienent agencies asking for FOIA information get in the way, sign them out of effective existence.
Just like the master spy said to Robert Redford at the very end of the movie 'Three Days of the Condor': "The people don't care what we have to do to get it for them. When their cars stop beacuse there is no oil, when their lights go out, when there is no more food, all they are going to care about is that we get these things for them. Today it is oil, next it will be uranium, after that it will be food."
BTW, does ANYONE have ANY idea how much oil the US Department of Defense uses every year? All of your heads would spin. The DoD is absolutely making ZERO effort to conserve nergy, either. Trust me, an incredible amount of fuel is flamed off every year just so we can use all the fuel that was budgeted so we don't receive a decreased fuel budget next year...it is the old government 'use it or lose it' budget drill...completely divorced from training or operational needs. In my 20 years, I have, and still do, regularly seen (in military buildings) lights left on 24/7, toilets continuously flushing all day by themselves, and buidling doors left open for days in extremley hot and cold climates. There is ZERO incentive or leadership directive to be energy efficient in any aspect of military operations.
Have a happy Fourth of July, Hornet Driver, we can rest easy knowing that you are ready to protect our freedoms and way of life by electing Jeb Bush or whomever!

I don't care how many examples you can dig up from the RNC website about SH. I can come up with a lengthy list on a number of despots that are equally as criminal as SH, why don't we get rid of them as well?
Our country was looking to avenge 9-11, not settle an old score with a has-been tyrant that posed no threat to the US.

Priss-a-dent Dumbass has never, not once, in his entire miserable life had to either take responsibility for his actions nor has he ever had to achieve or accomplish the first thing by his own merit. Why oh why might we think this is going to change? His sense of entitlement (& that of those around him) knows no limit.
This piss-poor excuse for a man (to say nothing of his abilities as a Statesman) is the logical end result of over a quarter century of turning the US government over to industry. An energy broker perusing an oil war all the while presiding over a massive upward redistribution of wealth.
What I have never been able to ken is; this man is the very epitome of EVERYTHING that real Republicans (Goldwater, Ike et al) always detested. The scion of an upper east coast family of privilege who shirked service to his country, whose accomplishments are entirely attributable to familial connections and who conducts himself just as arrogantly as the aforementioned might suggest. An overfed & underread supercilious, smug & swaggering ignoramus, George W. Bush is EXACTLY what is wrong with this country.
IMPEACHMENT IS MANDATORY.

To be honest though
Being a bad President even a criminally bad President is probably not a good enough reason to quit. With Nixon, no one had a living memory on Andrew Johnson's impeachment trial. It was unprecedented in our lifetime. But after nearly 6 years of targeted political assassination from the right against Clinton, we've all sadly taken on a rather Parliamentary view of things. When you don't like the officeholder, toss him out. Screw the election the hell with the term of office who cares about governance anyhow? Yeah so Bush belongs in Waco chopping scrub and Cheney should go back to whatever cave he crawled out of. But then the next President will what...use the wrong fork? Toss his/her ass out. Wrong Fork is Anti American. Burn the Witch!
See the problem is that we have all become the unwashed mob. And our view of governance is the tumbrel cart and the guillotine. For better or worse we don't have a Parliamentary system where you can have no confidence votes. The reasons for that are various but one advantage is that we have term limits. The British have had only 3 PM's in 28 years not including Gordon Brown who just started. I'm not sure that's an advantage.
