From Iraq to Scooter Libby, Bush and Cheney have broken America's trust and stabbed this nation in the back. It is time for them to go.
  • "Pigs get fat..."

Even though we still have 18 months before the seemingly eternal Bush Presidency is over, we should all lift our glasses in toast to our ‘Decider-in-Chief’, and to Messrs. Cheney and Rove as well! No matter how much you think America has suffered over the last 6 years it could have been much worse! If Mr. Bush and his associates had just been a little smarter, a little more prudent, a tad more patient, they could have ruined the country for decades to come.

They could have fueled endless wars against nebulous opponents. They could have permanently weakened civil liberties and environmental and labor laws. They could have slowly but surely placed senior officials in a few key federal agencies where they could do the most damage. They could have politicized the Department of Justice and other important bureaucracies just enough to subtly nudge close elections in their favor. Lastly, or perhaps primarily, they could have cemented policies guaranteed to accelerate the increasing concentration of wealth into the upper income brackets.

There’s on old saying that starts, “Pigs get fat….”. If the members of the Bush Administration and leading Republicans had been content to be ‘pigs’ they could have gotten enormously fat. Luckily for us, they decided to be ‘hogs’; to slurp up every drop of slop in the trough and do it yesterday! The arrogance, corruption and ruthlessness were so egregious that they became obvious to all but a dwindling band of true believers. The excesses became so great that all of the long-term objectives of the Bush Administration are now in doubt. Inadvertently, Mr. Bush may actually have protected us from something much worse. By the way, the quote ends “…but hogs get slaughtered!”.
