Ben, reality and other people on here have just been trying to point out that you're obnoxious and lack logic. She probably stuck with it more than most people would bother (I certainly wouldn't to that degree). I suspect also that most people completely tune you out, whether the subject is weight loss or anything else. You're like that raspy static you flip the radio dial through on your way to a station you might actually want to listen to.
Anyway, what's your solution for getting people to lose weight? Tell them to eat less and exercise more? Okay, sounds great...you should get a book deal at least out of that, at least, and a bunch of motivational speaking gigs. I'm sure that six months from now, 80% of Americans will suddenly be running triathlons thanks to you posting on Salon that people should eat less and exercise more. Because, it's like this whole weight-loss secret that's never ever been revealed to the public.
But if everyone out there got thin, wouldn't it suck for you? Who would you be able to feel superior to?
fat people costing our system money and ignoring the obvious. It is disengenous for them to claim minority status and demand special treatment, which they do. I don't feel superior to them, I feel sorry for them. They are pathetic.
Fat people, minorities, women, all screeching for special treatment all day long. Again, it's gotta suck for you. How do you cope with having to live amongst all these strident, morally weak, genetically inferior losers, without spontaneously combusting? Next time there's another Virginia Tech, I'll be thinking of you, honey.
of self control, take the fork away from your fat gaping maw. Simple.
but i guess we can't fault her for trying. we know black women embrace their curves, even to the point of obesity, but you couldn't have chosen a worse candidate to take the fall than big booty judy. that "booty" means NOTHING. please wikipedia (i'm going to assume you already did and thought it was irrelevant to your point) steatopygia. IT IS REAL (also AMSA and some others pointed this out months ago....)
moreover, in choosing such a poor candidate to illustrate the problem of black female obesity you actually CONTRIBUTE to the problem. calling "sisters" out is NOT going to be any MORE popular than it was when Bill Cosby did the same thing a few years ago. sure its TRUE, but delivered in a manner that made everyone forget completely about the MESSAGE.
don't get me wrong, i'm GLAD you pointed this out, you just chose a really dumb way to do it.
(i'm also lol-ing at the claims she ate junk food to make her butt big. that's just ridiculous, as NOBODY can CHOOSE where their fat is going once it passes their lips!!! seriously, i'm ROTFLMAO here.)
I'm talking about why it's socially acceptable to have a public debate about famous womens' bodies ("OMG look at Britney's cellulite", "Let's go on ad nauseum about how much Buffie the Body weighs", "Is Mischa Barton anorexic or naturally skinny?") though this has nothing to do with their abilities as entertainers, while famous men are largely left alone about their bodies and appreciated for their talents. This oft-repeated canard is ridiculous. Looking across the Hollywood landscape, I see men and women whose bodies are judged. People joke about former N-syncer Joey "fat one: Fatone. Women salivate over hardbodies like Matthew Mcconaghey. I've seen fat old actors mocked in magazines like US Weekly.
You could make the case that the focus on appearance affects women in society more. But there is an idealized male form, certainly.
gets constant attention from feminists while the health problems of obesity are massively denied by them. Obviously womens health is not the issue, but is just an excuse to carry on the battle against what men (supposedly)find attractive in women.
does that mean drugs and booze are good for you and that their use should be promoted?
an unattractive talented women will get as much or as little approval as an equally talented and equally unattractive man. Due to the biological realities of the audience you don't see lots of men who are where they are for looks ALONE, unlike the case with women.
I'm glad you have this board as therapy to work out your issues regarding your 800-lb. family, Anonymous.
Ben, you're absolutely right, I'm obsessed (muwahahahaha)...Every couple of months I ignore my better judgment and wander back into the wasteland of salon letters...and can't resist the utterly pointless task of arguing with you. Don't worry, it pretty quickly gets boring again and when that time comes I will leave you alone to your logic, reason and amazing solutions for all humanity's problems. But it's hard to resist sometimes...
Anyhow, had you ever stopped evading these 87 times and given me a straight answer regarding your separate claims here of getting MBAs from both Princeton and Yale--hey, even a denial would be fine at this point!--I would have left you alone a looooong time ago. It's just the shameless delusion, coupled with your total arrogance and general nasty personality that I just somehow find weirdly fascinating. And since I'm a writer, and you do provide some good material for at least a minor character for a short story, it's a win-win situation for me--either I somehow make you shut up here (which will never happen anyway), or else you keep coming up with material I can use. I mean, I don't even need to write it down! Thanks, Ben! (Brightstar's probably a great source, too.)
Don't worry--in real life I would want to keep a major distance from you. Anyway, I can only take so much of your screeching tone and sanctimoniousness before I get the itch to drop out for a long time again...
You should pay attention because the way things are going everyone will be in this position soon in one role or the other (in fact a great many more than you think already are but mostly you don't hear the truth because everyone involved is in denial).
