As Dr. Necessitor said, by picking a screen name you are not being required to give out sensitive info on yourself, and I doubt the tone of an argument is what influences people to just check the "Anonymous" box rather than go through the simple process of registering a name...I think it's laziness for the most part...especially if you plan on coming back to the debate repeatedly, I do agree that it is a copout as well not to come up with a singular name you can stand behind with pride, and cut down on the confusion...believe me, I don't lose any sleep worrying over trolls knowing my "name" and to me that as an excuse isn't that convincing.
