Hilarious
Hilarious!
And yes, why does Jimmy Carter have to apologize for stating the obvious? Carter and Habitat are building houses as fast as they can, and Bush is blowing them all up, and Carter is the one who has to apologize?
Excuse me. A flaming penguin just ran through the room. Gotta go.

When Democrats Collapse
It is a shame that demos caved in on the war funding issue. No doubt this will cost them dearly next time around. However, President Carter's comments aimed at little gw, well! someone does need to go to the White House and kick the sh-t out of that spoiled rich assh-le!! He needs to be held accountable for all the soldiers who have died and been maimed for life because of his criminal actions. gw dirty dick and moron rise have alot to account for to the people of this nation.

Funding the Iranian War
The Dumbocrats didn't vote to give more money to Iraq. They voted to fund the upcoming, new and improved, war with Iran.

Thank you Bill Maher
I love Jimmy, but thank you Bill.

Stop apologizing...
and stop asking for apologies.
When are the Democrats going to learn?

America the Codependent
How do we deal with the Democrats? Should we feel sorry for them, or blame them for not fixing the situation?
Well, let's see. When a woman chooses to stay with her drunk-ass husband who beats her, what do we say?
So, the Democrats are like the country girl who married the football player-turned-car salesman: they've been beaten so many times, perhaps they've just grown used to it. They could walk away from the table at any time, but will they? Of course not! "It just wouldn't be right!"
The Republicants are like the husband: belligerent, drunk, and behind the wheel. They'll beat the Dems for walking away, for staying there, for speaking up, or for staying quiet. They have a big old fist - you know him as Rupert Murdoch - and have a real problem with being told what to do.
Now, the Republicants wrecked the family car and got a DUI in 2006, and the Dems feel emboldened. "You need to stop drinking and driving! You already wrecked our car, and now we're borrowing this one from China!"
"Shut up, b*tch! I didn't wreck the car - it's fine! Now YOU'RE going to make me wreck if you don't shut up! You *always* try to kill me - you just hate me and want to destroy our whole family! You hate Jesus, and our country, too! NOW GIVE ME MY BEER!"
This is where any sane observer hopes the wife will call the husband on his bullsh*t. And like every weak-willed, codependent wife before, the Dems cave - too afraid to stick up for the family, too afraid to leave, too blinded by fear to even see their options.
"No, YOU wrecked the car!" (Dems hand George back his beer and turn around quickly to pout and feel sorry for themselves).
Now will the wife eventually get pissed off, report the husband for his crimes and divorce him? Surely she knows all of her neighbours will cheer her on...
The answer?
Only when she hits rock bottom.
Good luck America..

"You see, you don't get to become the worst president ever without a little help from the other side."
That’s all I’m saying.

fond of nicknames
Was it Harding who was referred to as "His Fraudulence" during his term (after seeming to steal the election in some shady backroom vote counting)? Ah, good times ...

Re: When Democrats collapse
We've been rolling over and playing dead for the doofus in the White House since November 2000. Why would we change tactics now?
It's deeply depressing to have President Carter apologize for possibly the most accurate statement he's ever made in his life. Can anybody name one thing Bush has done well?
He ignored the intelligence warnings before 9/11 eliminating any possibility for preventing the attacks. He turned his attention from Afghanistan without finishing the fight against Al Qaida or capturing Bin Laden. Too bad he wasn't half so determined to win that war as he was to start one in Iraq.
When did this myth about former presidents not speaking ill of their successors begin?
Herbert Hoover slammed FDR comparing the New Deal with Soviet style collectivism. Theodore Roosevelt took to the campaign trail to criticize Woodrow Wilson's handling of World War Iand before that attacked his hand-picked successor William H. Taft.
Or how about Harry Truman describing Richard Nixon as "a no good, lying bastard. He can lie out of both sides of his mouth at the same time, and if he ever caught himself telling the truth, he'd lie just to keep his hand in."
(I'm cheating there. I think that Truman actually said that before Nixon was in the White House but it was just too good to pass up.)
What this Democratic Party needs is less apologizing and more Harry Truman, and the next time W has the gall to compare himself to Truman every Democratic official in the country should tear him to shreds.

"...we would have been better off over the past six years if the Oval Office had been occupied by an orangutan with a Magic 8-Ball."
I don't know about this. They don't call him the Chimperor for nothing.

Bring Bush Up Short
Tell the truth, no apologies. Bush is a sorry ass excuse for a president. He's had chance after chance to be a "uniter", to bring the country around toward some positive goals on foreign relations, on energy, on health insurance (I refuse to use the term "healthcare"), and dozens of other issues and has squandered them all in pursuit of his single-minded illusion of dominating Iraq with military force. His "war on terror" has terrified me from the start and its cost in lives, treasure, and civil liberties spiral ever upward. I want to be protected from Bush's evil and wasteful Administation, not from Muslims fighting for national self-determination.

Earnest on "America the Codependent"
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. I think you've pretty much nailed the phenomenon there.
We need some new Democrats, those who haven't yet been beaten down by the Right Wing Noise Machine™. Those who still know how to fight. Jimmy Carter has been taking it since 1976 - that's longer than it's been since Star Wars first came out. I have read (but haven't yet verified) that the freshman Dems mostly voted against the Iraq funding give-away. If so, they ought to be re-elected in 2008.
The Dems that voted for the no-strings-attached Iraq Occupation Funding need to be replaced with better Democrats. The time to get politically active is now.
Or, we could just hand George back his beer and turn around quickly to pout and feel sorry for ourselves.
