By upholding the ban on "partial-birth" abortion, the Supreme Court has injected rigid Catholic teaching into law. That's a crime against the Constitution and women.
  • Legislating Procreation

The posts supporting legislation are disappointing in the level of the ignorance of the law, the decsion by the supreme court and understanding of late term procedures. But to stick to the "law" aspect of this discussion, since the Supreme Court feels it is right and proper to legislate what a women does with her body and life, I am sure they also agree that dicks, who are major players in this whole issue, should also be legislated. How about a law that states, that a man proven by dna to have inpregnated a woman, in or out of wedlock, has to devote 50% of his lifetime earnings (regardless of divorce or not) to the woman or spend the rest of his life in jail. I mean as the pro-lifers constantly shout from the hilltops, we are talking about life and death issues concerning children here, so it's a small price to pay for an unwelcome pregnancy. Or how about a law that states if a man inpregnates a women out of wedlock his balls are cut off? Too extreme? What? Getting pregnant is not extreme? Come on, this law could really cut down on the number of unwanted pregnancies.

If you like legislating procreation there are many opportunities for laws that make the individual with the dick a more responsible party in terms of unwanted pregnancies. However, I guess the legislators with dicks aren't interested in legislating those opportunities, they feel dicks can be counted on to be self-regulating.
