Andrew - You're kidding right? it's a little more tangled and much deeper than merely piling on the guy when he's down.
Your comparison is silly and shallow.
Clinton has dedicated his life to advancing progressive causes for the good of the country. When those causes conflicted with the Conservative agenda they tried to destroy him.
Sanchez never seemed interested in much more than advancing his own personal quest for as much fame and money as he could grub up.
I think Coulter drew the intitial fire and got the attention focused. (And where has she been? She slithered away). Most of the attacks were directed at her in the beginning.
All of the letters you're seeing here have been in response to Sanchez's very sad whining, his denial and blame-shifting.
Before he was nothing more than an ex- porn slut. Who cares?
With this pitiful article he's written for Salon, he's tried to make himself into some kind of martyr, and the readers of Salon see right through that shit.
