09:15 "THERE's only One way out of Iraq" I just heard it----

NOT added was through MECCA and that other Border we are guarding; SAUDI ARABIA!

Iraq has by decree closed its Borders, using our AMERICAN NATIONAL GUARD.

MY NOTES FROM EARLY FEBRUARY said that the Mediene Army would be leaving Baghdad before those 21.5K arrived.

I am NOT CIA, DIA, or State Department; however, they all seem to be DOA!

USAma bin waitin' for America to leave MECCA.

but as George said in that Elementery School 9112001--crusade

leave now?

"SLAY THE COURSE"

Jim Webb, I Honor your Service, your Articulation, and how Neatly you adDress your words of Professionalism.

MOVE-ON, get ON with the business of we the people.

All words no action a hill of beans

All the words that have been spoken against this administration in all areas, not just the Iraq conflict, amount to a hill of beans. That's how I, an outside observer of the current political confluence on the Hill, see the situation. What do all the words mean if we can not come to some sort of conclusive action to overturn the decisions of the administration? They continue to flount their hubris and self-righteous bull crap at the American public, to which they are answerable, as well as to the rest of the world. All as if we are stupid and ignorant pawns in thier little(big) power game. If there remains no recorse , we the public can accomplish against this foolishness, then we are truly powerless and remain at the whims of those we have placed in power. If the Senate and the Congress can ot rally together to accomplish the will of the people then we no longer have a Democracy to speak of. Everything from Justice to the State Department to the Defence Department and now add the Homeland Department reeks with the stench of Self-rigtheuosness. In the Prophet Isaiah's day that was synomynous with women's menstral rags! Pretty groos stuff!

What good is a resolution that has no teeth? Blowing back into a hurricane force wind accomplishes silch!

we need to some how put pressure on our elected officials to require the hard biting resolve to accomplish the change neccesary for true resolution, not nonbinding ones. This is all just a waste of our precious time and tax dollars.Which are both being stealthily stolen.

Not Capable

For years, Bush, Cheney, and Rice have repeatedly demonstrated their discomfort with language. Bush's inability to speak coherently is legendary, Cheney hears only what he wants to hear, and Rice is so busy editing herself as she speaks that not a shred of sincerity survives.

Language is the basis of diplomacy. Nuance is lost on the inarticulate and without sensitivity to nuance, successful diplomacy is impossible. The current administration has expressed itself only through violence, literal and figurative - they are classic cowardly bullies. It is time to impeach them (Cheney first, naturally) for their obvious high crimes and misdemeanors. That is the only course that holds out hope for any of us. If we don't get adult supervision over the course of this war we will continue the rapid destruction of what was once the best society on this planet.

The administration will not use diplomacy because they cannot.

Politians need to hear from those

debating JIM webb's position. They need to hear the articulated response to Webb's position which some have correctly pointed out as a half-hearted gesture that keeps troops in Iraq getting shot for oil. Jim Webb needs to vocally support impeaching Bush & Cheney and pull all troops out of Iraq and restore some integrity in Washington. He needs to support Russ Feingold's position.

Hooray for Webb, but...

The bottom line of all of this is that this administration and its supporters must understand the realities that are causing us, as a Congress, to finally say enough is enough.

But they're not saying "enough is enough," dammit. When someone is robbing your house, raping your spouse, shooting your dog, setting fire to your car...you don't need to make them "understand" that what they are doing is wrong. The first order of business is to make them stop. After that, get 'em some time in jail, some rehabilitation, maybe they'll hook up with Jesus or in some way see the error of their ways; that's icing on the cake. Congress was given a new majority to make a difference, and that difference starts with putting an end to this war, not convincing the other side that they're being naughty.

That said, I'm all for Jim Webb. Maybe he's tempering his words so as not to be seen as too much of a fire-breather. I just hope the consensus in congress swings toward putting Bush and Cheney in cuffs, figuratively or even literally, so our soldiers can come home sooner rather than later.

Wishful Thinking

I suppose it is "wishful thinking" to desire more integrity and resolve from elected leaders, as well as more courage and wisdom from those who elected them.

I wish for a better America. So be it.

It's a shame if I'm alone in that wish.

Oh, stuff the purist nonsense

It is interesting how those who lack ideals and integrity always insist that those who possess these admirable traits must compromise or sacrifice them for the good of those who do not.

Horsefeathers. It's the ideological purists who deserted the Democrats and voted for the supposedly saintly Ralph Nader who got us where we are today -- sitting in a crock of shit. And now you're whining because someone trying to help get us out of the crock of shit is getting his hands dirty.

Had we insisted on integrity from the beginning, had we stuck to the ideals that once made America great, we would not be in Iraq at this time.

Had the Naderites insisted on practicality from the beginning, had they stuck to the tradition of give and take that once made this a great democracy, we would not be in Iraq at this time. Al Gore would not have gotten us into this mess, even if he's not as ideologically pure as some of the more extreme leftists would wish. So let's not pretend this is all the fault of mainstream Democrats.

Compromise is the grease that makes the wheels of democracy turn, and without which they would lock up. Intelligent compromise is a virtue, not a moral failing. When you get to the point that nobody is willing to bend even just a little on their beautiful pure ideals, you get stalemate. You get the sort of thing that is going on in Iraq, where there's a lot of fighting but precious little of value ever gets accomplished. The country may go down the toilet, but hey, but at least you can say you never compromised, right?
