Letters to the Editor

This letter is associated with the following article:
Arlen Specter's FISA bill would put President Bush above the rule of law, just as an earlier president would've wanted.
  • Does it matter?

Bush acts above the rule of law already. The imperial presidency is upon us and the Democrats are dead. If Specter's FISA bill passes it's not that it has any weight anyway, a law, good or bad is only as effective as the application of it.

Bush has done more deserving of impeachment and censure than Bill Clinton did regarding constitutionality, not to mention international law. But the Republicans could care less and the Democrats are impotent.

Specter should be ashamed of himself but then that would require a sense of decency and I don't think there is a single politician of any political standing (both right and left) that does have decency, in fact I think it is an oxymoron the concept of "decent politician".
