Disappointed, Salon
I just wanted to say how thoroughly disappointed I was to find this mindless editorial in Salon. Not so much the ultimate conclusion made by the writer-- I actually do think the headbands are ultimately counter-productive, although understandable.
As a life-long resident of Durham, I have followed this case. I originally assumed the accused claims would have merit. They didn't-- the only way to describe the case against her claims at this point is... overwhelming.
I could cite every example by heart, but frankly, I'm paying you to do that.
You know what scares me the most? The only people acknowledging the facts in this case are by and large the wingnut media.
Would you guys mind putting your "media watchdog" hats back on? There's a very interesting story here-- but it isn't about patriarchy and privilige-- at least not in the way you think it is.
