It's time for honorable Republicans to save us all from George W. Bush, a man who does not represent the best that is our country.

  • The truth, spoken

No Demos voted for Bush. Most Repubs did. So, basically, it's up to them to save us. Sad, but true. But will any of them own up to their mistake in twice electing this man?

Doubtful. Like the gambler who won't leave the table until he "wins it all back" (and thus stays until he's flat ass broke) these folks are suffering serious cognitive dissonance. Like their fearless leader they just won't admit it's all fucked up.

Surely, this is all Clinton's fault? Wasn't it the crazy liberals who got us into Iraq? 9/11 wasn't Al Queda, it wasn't Saddam, it was... Al Gore!!

What we really need to do is sell Texas back to Mexico, Alaska back to the Russians, and make the rest of the midwest Indian territory again.

  • "Honorable Republicans" ??

That phrase, considered in the context of the apparent earnestness of his appeal, is either the funniest or the saddest thing Keillor has ever written.

  • How's this for a simple message??

Bush is a lying war criminal who steals elections. And for those intelligent enough to care, we have the evidence.

  • keep it simple

Garrison wryly and accurately hits the nail on the head. Speaking as a southerner surrounded by many average people who voted for the Current Occupant twice, I hope the Democrats are wise enough to keep their message simple and on point for the upcoming elections. If they are capable of coming up with one, that is. The GOP has successfully turned the label "liberal" into something to be feared as being by many voters who are not rabid right-wingers. They have simply, if close-mindedly, bought into the fear tactics sold by the neo-cons. Regardless of what being a liberal actually means, it signifies weakness and over-dependance to many Americans who are closer to the middle of the political spectrum than they are to either extremes. It is time for moderate Democrats to find the backbone to make being a "fundamentalist" just as unsavory as being a "liberal".
