Impeach Bush

The man was lost and then he was found and now he's more lost than ever -- and he's taking us into the darkness with him. It's time to remove him.

Great article, Garrison

Great article, Garrison.

But only one thing........you and most of the people

that are responding here do not understand and is a typical

and fundamental aspect of being Liberal is that you are not with 80%

of the american people. MOST, again, read it slowly, MOST american's

WANT President Bush there. I mean if MOST of america didn't

want him there, why did MOST american's vote for him? hmm......

Vote Smart , Vote Republican.

Impeach Bush

Garrison has this hands down. Where are all the guys that impeached Richard Nixon? Have all the Democrats just caved in? Who represents us to carry this banner. Two more years is way too many.

"It's a lot more credible to win elections, wink wink, nudge nudge."

Which is why the Cheney administration has no credibility, as Democrats have won every Presidential election since 1992.

The weird thing about these comments, for me, are that a lot of people don't get either one or both of the following:

1) Cheney is the President.

2) He's committed impeachable offenses, as well.

President Hastert? Hey, if it came to pass and he couldn't hold office without committing impeachable offenses, then impeach him, too.

But don't impeach Presidents and Vice Presidents who have actually committed multiple crimes while in office because the Republicans misused the power of impeachment once? So now every criminal Republican gets a free ride? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. If the criminals don't get impeached, who does?

Of course, Bush and Cheney also committed multiple crimes before they even started their political careers, but that's another, equally horrible and shameful, story.

If your typing were better, I'd guess you were Karl Rove

No Name -- Pull your head out whatever oraface you have it wedged in. A majority of Americans DID NOT want Bush to be president in the 2000 election. A scant majority of those who voted in 2004 re-elected him (nowhere near a majority of eligible voters), but his approval ratings now hover in the low 30's. He appears to have little or no intellect, no curiosity about any issue that would cause him to think creatively, no tolerance for dissent, no willingness (much less ability) to forge a consensus on any issue. He has brought some of the worst people into positions of authority in government with the result that his government has failed people miserably and, in the case of Katrina, undoubtedly contributed to loss of life and immense suffering. Not to mention outright lying to the country to involve us in a war that has no conceiveable chance of doing anything but causing tens and tens of thousands of lives to be lost and a country to devolve into civil war. He is by most accounts the worst president in a generation and one of the worst in history. There is no chance that he would be reelected if he ran today.

Who Wants to Be a... President!

"First Keillor advances an adolescent form of militarism (previous column, where he argues that only soldiers should be allowed to be President), then he makes a seemingly bold statement about impeaching Bush. You might speculate that he was covering his right before he punched to the left. But the defensive manuever to the right (only allow Presidents who have previously served in the military) was truly appalling neo-fascist militarism, antidemocratic to its core."

I can't agree with this name-calling (although I'm kinda smiling), but this has been rightly pointed out as a problem. Oh boy what a problem. Only soldiers to run for President. Again, who rises to the top of the military (but before I get shat on: no, of course not all of them, but a good deal *too many*!) but the psychotics who's "bravery" (read: willingness to kill people to attain a goal) got them a medal. It's this very bit that needs to be examined. What kind of people are floating at the top of the politico-military pond? Who's values and agendas are they really going to follow? You think it's Blue-Collar Joe's agenda and priorities? Or White-Collar-Jane's? Uh-uh. It's the upper-crust-de-la-creme who's lives are made merrier and pleasanter, not Joe and Jane Bloe. It's not about small-business start-ups, nor child- and elderly- care, nor bringing in the homeless, nor about making it possible to put more food on the table, nor to receive healthcare when you fall in a low-income bracket. No, that's not their agenda, people. Look at what is being done, and look for the token gestures. They are evident. Don't fall for the status quo, stand up and be heard.

So when will it be enough for them? When the whole of our world, our planet Earth, is destroyed to satisfy their heartless, greedy economy? When all or most of the darker-skinned humans are subjugated or eliminated? When the right to live only exists for the elite hiding behind their tall garden fences?

What will it take?

"My Lord! My Lord! The peasants are revolting!!"

"Yes, Richards... the peasants have *always* been revolting."

Astounding

I find it astonishing to read letters from posters claiming that a majority of Americans still support Bush. How can anyone make this absurd claim?

Polls for approval ratings show Bush has some of the lowest Presidential approval ratings in the history of polling. Arguably only post-Watergate Nixon was lower. Cheney's ratings are even lower (less than one in five approve).

Even our *troops* want out of Iraq -- 75% think we need to leave within a year. Hardly a hotbed of liberalism, the US Army!

Of course, the far-Right posters always claim that the polls are wrong (unless they polls support their position, of course) and that only THEY -- the posters -- know the true pulse of America. Face it, folks, by the most accurate way we know of determining public opinion, most of America wants us out of Iraq, disapproves of Bush and co's illegal torture, imprisonment, and spying, and wants Bush OUT.

One things I'd like to remind posters, however. We don't have two more years of Bush. We have eight more months; vote Democrat in November and Bush will be rendered impotent. His only recourse if he had to face a strongly liberal Congress would be to basically suspend the rule of law and the Constitution.

And if he tries that, dear friends, I will join the millions who will rise up against him.

So -- for the love of all that's holy, come November -- VOTE!!
