Any person who supports the policy of the Bush administration regarding the treatment of detainees in the battle against terrorism is in my opinion wrong.
Such a policy is against all decent and moral tenents of humanity and only demonstrates to the world to what depths the US national pysche has sunk under the Bush regime. This policy will not defeat terrorism, but will instead, promote, inlarge and spread it.
This policy is worthy of any tolitarian dictator and can only be described as being spawned by a collection of 'sadistic degenerates' and 'moral retards'.
Simon Hersh is not my heroe! Far from it! When I first heard of him, it was on Fox, interviewed by O'reilly (twice in one year), when I was still stuck in Tehran! (I decided to go there for financial Reasons - I left Europe where I grew up -, in order to complete my Education and give myself a chance to become a Master in whatever field that would ultimately choose me, whether Architecture, my own studies, Interior Design or, finally, PAINTING!). CNN and all the French Media were for free (thru piracy), I had to pay to See FOX! (The three first months - 10 days before the Invasion! - I could also get it for free!) So I paid for it, after 9/11, I wouldn't have survived in Tehran without the Strenght and Lightness of these Spiritual Warriors! I recognized my own Spiritual Brothers, at the same time, for once I could enjoy the Voice of the silenced Side!! (America's Lovers!) A true Miracle!! Fair and Balanced it is because no debate is Taboo, nobody is snubbed! Challenged, for sure, but not silenced, nor excused!!! Although sometimes Flattered!!! (The only time, I disagreed with Fox in general, not even all of them, it was about Michael Jackson!) So to say that Fox is monolithic is a Lie, nobody is afraid of his opinion, they even argue openly between each other - Right/Right!!!!!! What better example of DEMOCRACY IN ACTION??? of AMERICAN DEMOCRACY IN ACTION??? French News seems open and Tolerant, but they are too coward to be fair! What unites BBC, CNN, French News is their Anti-Americanism! Anti-Capitalism! (no matter how Hypocritical this is!) Anti- Semitism! Paternalism, Demagogy, Prejudice, Misjugement, cowardice!! Also, to comfort you, Editors at Salon, and the readers of Salon, I never met one single person who didn't tell me: Fox? The Fascist Network?? Including my own former Friends in Tehran, all educated from the best schools in America who never even watched Fox! It's the same attitude on French News, etc etc!!! So you are still in Power and that trend is far from being changed! That's the world we are living in, that's the reason Wars still happen, everybody is opinionated, talking without listening, talking without knowing...The Right is understood as Devil, The Left is accepted as Heroes!!! I never read one single right-wing magazine in my life! So I come from the same school!!! My teachers were all communists! After 5 years of Architecture, I was still unable to build!!! Watching and contemplating New York as city made me understand that Progress and Modernity and JOY doesn't equal to Ugliness and Regression and UNJUSTICE !!! Capitalism can create Beauty! Actually I love AMERICAN ART, ARCHITECTURE and CITIES the Most!!! On the contrary, come check the Ugliness of the Architecture and the city planning under the Islamic Republic of Iran or before, during the USSR: the INTERNATIONAL SOCIALISM! Talking of the Loss of Culture!!!
Even the BRONX turns me on!!!
Back to Simon Hersh, What came to my mind was How much Ego this man has, how selfish are his actions, How stupid one can be! Proud of his revelations during a War with a savage enemy who was showing his Barbaric ways daily! For crimes that are half-crimes: You just discovered the Moon, and the rest of us in danger have to pay the price for it!!!
Terence Ward is an American writer I met in Tehran while he was there for his own Journey. As child, he grew up in Tehran (unlike me), son of a black-listed American who was working in Iran in the Oil Industry! Anyway we met at a mutual friend's house! He has mentioned me in few lines in his book: "Searching for Hassan".

Some readers wrote somewhere that Iran is a growing Democracy! I suppose it was someone who also believe This US Administration is run by Nazis!! In Iran, People may vote but their only choice is between a Cow and a Camel! There are Internet Cafés everywhere! Everybody is forced to live in illegality because none of their Laws make sense! But Don't get caught!! It's still not the Horror of Saddam's Iraq, maybe it was my Luck never getting caught on trivial matters such as Marijuana! (which according to me should be legal in America, not over abused, but legal). The day I couldn't shout my mouth anymore on Political (still Life!) Issues, I became truly Paranoide and had to leave! It took me another 4 years to pack (my paintings) and leave!!!
I had not yet found a name with which sign my paintings -Basquiat is my soul-Brother, both born in 1960; Lou Reed is my other soul-Brother; but I think I have found it now: "made in Tennessee"
Listening to all that is being said, I would side with those who trust the UAE's deal! (Trust but verify!)
