You have a right to your rather wordy opinion. But I still don't know why we invaded Iraq. Neither does anyone else it seems. So if you have the goods (why we invaded Iraq), please do tell.

Is it because Saddam was a butcher? I beleive the U.S. was quite willing to deal with him in the past despite this. Rumsfeld was over there shaking his hand back in the day. We didn't seem too concerned about his pesky atrocities until Bush II got into office. Is he a bad guy? Yeah. Did he have WMD? No. Was he even close to the biological weapons capacities used to fearmonger us into this unbeleivably costly war? No. Did we have an exit strategy? No. The powers that be couldn't committ enough troops because they thought this would be a walk in the park despite what generals told them.

Face it, this administration has blamed everyone and demoted anyone who didn't/doesn't agree with them. They do what they want to without any oversight from a cowed Congress and Senate. I would feel that you were more genuine if you had a little angst about all the shenanigans that got us into this war. It does seem to be serving the President well in that he is able to constantly use it to scare the crap out of us.

If you aren't brave enough to stare at the hard, cold reality of what has been done in our name, then you have no leg to stand on to be offended by Salon showing the photos of our troops torturing prisoners. I am frankly way more offended that people like you think it's Salon's lack of integrity instead of an utter lack of integrity of our present leaders. It isn't the media coverage or dissenting voices making our troops less safe. It's idiotic decisions of leaders who do not have the courage to go to war themselves, but will committ troops to a war based on greed. I hope you sleep well at night knowing Haliburton is getting rich.

BTW, bringing Clinton into this conversation was a stretch.

Sorry about my lengthy diatribe, but there is so much that goes into this whole concept, it's hard to simply blame the President, or Congress, or both. I do not want us to be there any more than you do. I just want it completed the right way without Salon, Walsh, or other doves that have never stood a dangerous post in a hot spot to even remotely think they know what’s best for our soldiers. Or think that they can write and publish anything without consequence. You bet if President Bush did something (other than the war) tomorrow that possibly made soldiers die, you, and everyone else on the left would be clamoring for his resignation, etc. But let’s just let the press do whatever it wants, all the time. In the military, we used to joke that CNN was SecretNN because they would report troop movements, etc, when they got the chance. Do you wonder if we (the military) really wanted the enemy to KNOW where we are going? Kind of takes the surprise part out of the equation and also greatly increased the likely hood of a harder fight because now the enemy is better prepared. (This then equates to a greater loss of American life)

The entire resolution is listed here:

    http://www.c-span.org/resources/pdf/hjres114.pdf

Take the time and read it in its entirety and you can see why Bill Clinton, Bush II, the House of Representatives, and the Senate all voted for the resolution. You, like so many others have fallen into the hard lefts trap of "It's all about the WMD.", and as you can see it was not JUST the WMD. It may have been the thing that made us all take pause during this process, but the bottom line is there was a myriad of reasons in which to do this.

Paragraph III through VII says it all, and I wonder what would have happened if he just would have let the inspectors in. He didn't for few possible reasons:

    1. His willingness to intimidate his enemies (including Iran)

    2. His continued development of WMD (Some say it went to Syria, but can we believe that?)

    3. He thought we would back down and go home.

So, in my opinion, the past is the past. Stop the blaming, and start figuring out a plausible exit strategy. This we ALL want.

  • Fuck Abu Ghraib, will you Marry me?

Dear Tennessee, in case you and your wife decide to divorce, will you Marry me???

  • Can't see forest for trees

    Sorry Tennessee,

I'm not going to engage you anymore. You can't see the forest for the trees. That happens with institutionalized mind grip. But, I have to agree that the corporate media which swings hard to the right is your enemy all right. They aren't doing their job by any stretch of the imagination. They are carrying water for this corrupt, criminal administration. Instead of focusing on real stuff, they want to cover Jessica Simpson and bash Democrats.

And you are making assumptions that aren't true and which I never asserted because you are obviously not really reading my posts. So why should I continue to engage.

But I think you and Basquiat would make a lovely couple. I hope you can live with the world you have helped create by putting these souless, power grabbing people in power. Cheers.

One last thought before you go, what if this post (and Book) by Georges Sada posted below is true.

    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48647

Where is all of the mainstream reporting on this? No where. Why? Because America gets its news from a heavily liberal news arena based in a very liberal state. (New York) I don't see Salon reporting on this, even if to REFUTE it, but then again, what if the lefts greatest argument turned against them and Saddam actually DID have visible WMD before it was shipped to Syria.

Talk about the forest not seeing the trees
