CAFE and the US Auto Indiustry

Duh, let me see if I can get this straight. As gas prices go up, we find that sales for imports, notably Toyota and Honda are rising, while sales of US cars are falling. The Asian cars get much better fuel economy, and the average person wants that.

Detroit doesn't want to improve their MPG standards, but if the US doesn't force them to, they face bankruptcy since people don't want to buy gas hogs.

So what will it be? Force higher MPG, or watch Detroit go out of business? The dim-witted executives of Detroit are too short-sighted to do what's best for their company.

And if you don't think gas prices will rise, then go even higher, boy do I have a bridge to sell you.
