Bipartisanship is for suckers

Hey, Democrats -- Republicans have no intention of addressing America's healthcare ills. Any reform is up to you

@ RobLAca

There is not much on which Cuchulain2007 and I agree but on this I find common ground with him.

Yesterday he counseled a ranting blogger of the dem persuasion to cool it because the rhetoric was too hot and would convince no one.

Now I will say the same to you Rob - I assume you were buzzed or high and a bit boistrous and exuberant in the sharing of your ideas.

Tone it down, use sarcasm, use inuendo - it works better and sometimes the opposition even laughs.

Otherwise stay hyper in your comments and you will lose your voice in this venue becasue as soon as your name appears, others will write you off and refuse to read your crap!

Jack Hughes

Maybe, just maybe,

The blue dogs won't listen to Harry because Harry is going to have a difficult time getting re-elected.

Would you stake your political future on someone who might be gone in 14 months?

You see, after Harry announced that the war in Iraq was lost and that paying taxes in America is voluntary, many are somewhat concerned about his analytical skills and his electability.

Aw, our healthcare system works just fine

You just have to understand its purpose, which is the same purpose most other systems serve here in the Post-Bush Era. As Poppy once put it, "the continuous consolidation of money and power into higher, tighter and righter hands."

When you believe your own propaganda...

So your going to replace everyones job health care and call it choice?

I guess because your a liberal its OK to lie because when liberals lie its just "framing", its only a lie when republicans do it.

Re: Profit motive

The idea that CEOs not making millions of dollars a year will limit technical advancement is BS. I've worked for quite a few companies, and guess what? It's not the ultra high paid executives making millions, or tens of millions a year that -make- the advances. It's the scientists and engineers who make 10% of what the CEO makes...if they're damn lucky.

So enough of this removing the profit motive will limit advancement. It's a weak as hell argument to put it mildly. Case in point, Japan limits executive pay to something like 50 times the lowest paid worker in the company. Who pretty much leads the -world- in electronics and robotics? Yeah, the 'socialist' Japanese companies.

If the profit motive leading to advancement was -really- so important to republicans, they'd fight tooth and nail to make sure engineers, chemists, biologists, etc. were the highest paid people. I think it's fairly safe to say they haven't come -close- to doing that.

@ Slingking

Profit motive will be a part of the consideration when the researchers and scientists in the pharma field, or when docs who are treating are limited on how much they can make at their profession.

The White House now wants authority with respect to setting Medicaid rates of payment to medical providers. Do you honestly believe BO wants this power so he can pay more to the docs?

45 million new insureds in the US added on to the current insured population and the potential to see a reduction in the medical community is a difficult situation.

There is a critical shortage of nurses in the US currently and reason is not because of salary level or opportunity - its because there are not enough nursing professors.

If medicine becomes a federally regulated industry, the incomes will decrease for providers and professors and the crisis will be upon us.

Well, whaddidya expect?

Should we have been looking forward to anything else, other than the usual partisan bickering?

Just remember (if your old enough) that, in the 1980's, the Dems did the same damned thing to the Reagonites - at whenever they had a Majority.

I hadn't yet realized that I was a 'Reagan Democrat' yet - that took Bill Clinton (still Love Ya!), and the 'Contract with America(n Special Interests, looking to maintain the same status quo that they still are).

Only WE can stop this America!

PAY ATTENTION - AND KEEP DOING SO!!! Then VOTE Appropriately!

For Me it's easy

I lived in 2 socialist countries with universal health care, compared to which America is the 3rd world. We will never have the quality of care the Europeans have. period. We love stupid politicians too much, and have too many uneducated hillbillys willing to vote against their own welfare.

Just today, my health insurance provider informed me they are raising my premium over 20% 'to provide better service'. I have never once even used my insurance. They are just ripping me off at this point.

I work in health care, and deal with insurance companies as a care provider all the time. No government bureaucrat would ever be as scary as the 20somethings who work in the Indian call centers insurance companies now have between you and your physician.

Any politician who votes against a public option will never get my vote again.

Great article!!

The Republicans will lie and obstruct because they want the president to fail.

The amount of campaign donations from insurance and pharmaceutical companies should be listed along with the names of those opposed to the health care reform bill.

To the Death

Partisan politics is killing this country.

What we need are new politicians, that will actually legislate to enforce the laws of the land, "For the People". The People, if we would only wake up, could end this charade of paid corporate enforcers, and "throw da bums out".

The whole world knows we're screwed, but we seem to have a tyranny of stupidity going and will sadly keep re-electing these monsters. What we need is a new attitude among the electorate, one of civic responsibility.

Sadly, the ones that need reaching the most are not reading these posts. Will they ever wake up, or will we preach to the choir until the end?
