Writing about fitness for the presidency, why do so many journalists avoid a real consideration of Barack Obama's intelligence? I find his intelligence the sort that befits a clergyman, a preacher, more than a president faced with terrible problems. Can you imagine anyone but a preacher attempting to do that, a dumb preacher at that?

Although, I was offended and insulted at the selection of a stunningly ignorant Bimbo for VP, Palin was hardly the sole disasterous element of McCain's poorly run campaign. How much can be attributed directly to McCain and how much to advisers only those directly involved know.

McCain had assured the public that he was aware that his age made the selection of a well qualified VP imperative. He broke his first campaign promise during the campaign when he imposed the Wasilla hillbilly on the public. He violated trust.

But who failed to note that on the day the financial system collapsed to notify the candidate not to contend that the fundamentals of the economy were sound.

What genius thought that pretending to cancel the first presidential debate to send a man who had declared on more than one occasion that he knew very little about the economy rushing back to D C in some pretense of saving the economy was a winner. All they proved was that the GOP Frat boys in the congress wouldn't even follow McCain's lead and that their candidate wasn't trustworthy.

Who didn't know that advising their candidate not to look at the person addressing him would lead to the universal assumption that the man was lying or hiding something. (Try pulling that one in a court of law when you are the defendant and you will buy yourself a guilty verdict.)

It really didn't matter what McCain said because no one was going to believe him after he continuously refused to look at Obama. If the idea that treating their African American opponent with disrespect on the campus of Ole Miss of all places somehow would not be perceived as racially motivated, then they failed to study the history of the university. A history for the record that the staff and student body had for decades worked to overcome.

When the candidate shows up for the second debate and it becomes apparant that unlike most of the population neither he nor his financial advisers had even read the TARP bill, he was toast.

The exit polls confirmed that Palin was a significant drag on the ticket but she hardly bears full responsibility for a shabbily run campaign.
