What would you expect? Hannity would have you believe that he personally and of course 'the great one' Levin, (does he not just look like death warmed up?) know much better what the nation needs than the management group Obama has put together? Hannity thinks that a cowboy actor of many B movies was the greatest leader on earth so don't even check out his credentials. Did Reagan ever go to Walmart? Limbaugh says that he never ever went to a Walmart but tells his audience that they all have the same chances in this great capitalistic nation of being as fortunate as he and Reagan to be filthy rich. Tell it to all the actor/waiters eking out a meager living in LA and to all the youtube 'would be' talk radio hosts. What sickens me the most though as a Brit here observing Y'all for eight years is that you finance and fatten the pig with your bent up views and hatred for the opposition. In Britain your side loses the vote and you get 'on with it' knowing full well that the 'chicken coup' of the Houses of Parliament will only allow the best arguments to prevail for the next four years. Of course you guys have something different to worry about and even a Supreme Court that is notoriously one sided all the time. Oh well, I guess in ten or twenty years it will be predominantly one sided Hispanic/Black? Read what 'patrick lockyer' has to say on the Limbaugh matter on google or American Chronicle. Supporting Limbaugh is like the French Revolutionists supporting a fat Marie Antoinette filled with cake and bragging daily? What on earth possesses you to allow this fat 'plane owning' super star to belch out his rich pig hatred and lies of 'failed alternative nations' to capitalism or do you simply lack the 'savvy' of the average middle ages French Revolutionist? Just go figure Planetarians?
Of all the writers with regular column, I can think of few more deserving of the title Hack than Conason. Al Franken, now Senator Franken, may drive right-wing entertainers into a frenzy but this bit of news is about as surprising as thunderstorms in July. That the less articulate right are willing to sacrifice a bit of truth for the Q-ratings, is beside the point, the point here is that once again the Democratic lapdog Conason, disingenuity is more offensive than right-wing nonsense. The pleasure in repeating their nonsense without fair analysis is just more another example of Conason compulsive onanism.
Conason knows that Franken's win was a result of more than the numerical fact of "more votes."
There was much more at play, and Conason should be enough of a man to acknowledge them.
Saying this, I don't have any quarrel with Franken's win—he was more savvy and his schemes and lawyering were more sophisticated than Coleman's schemes and lawyering. If Conason wasn't such a party hack, he'd call acknowledge it and admit, the power of the Democratic machinery, to say nothing of the voters the President brought to the polls, ultimately made Franken's win inevitable.
In closing, I ask again, why Conason is allowed a regular column; he is incapable of critical analysis, wit or even the occasional well-chosen phrase. Isn't it time the man was phased out? One day, he'll find a day job on some nitwit Congressman's staff, but until then it seems he'll have to play TweedleDee to Rush Limbaugh's TweedleDum.
I have never seen a picture like this of any other politician. It is an embarrassment to the USA.

Hey Brit,
Thanks for gracing us'ins with your presence as a guest in the US for the past 8 years. (I assume you have not become a citizen as of yet)
In the past I had the priviledge to live overseas as a guest for 7 years and I learned to be respectful of my host country and to keep my controversial views to myself.
You might be better appreciated if you worked out some plan for your GB politicians to find an ethical way to clean their moats.
Here's my issue with your post Jax, I can yell like heck about my brother Americans and we will fight like cats and dogs, but you go after my brother American and you go after me.
Don't criticize my Supreme Court until your own version in GB is perfected.
Now, if you have become a citizen at some time in the past 8 years, please disregard my comments and criticize away.
The tenor of the Fox attacks grew more feverish with the ranting of Brian Kilmeade, who judged Franken "barely sane if you read his books, and quite angry in every facet of his life." Kilmeade went on to describe the new senator as "hateful," "evil," bitter," and "maniacal," and again as "angry." Sean Hannity echoed Fox's other amateur shrinks, saying, "This guy, Franken, he's not all there."
So after he develops these traits a little more, he may be qualified to be a republicon.
Is this the rubber stamp of opposition- no matter what the cost! Is there a need for Congress? What is the role of Congress?
Should GOP Congress be the rubber stamp - just like the do nothing congress was for Bush but only now the rubber stamp for opposition - regardless if it is good for the country and what the people of the country voted for.
Big Bad Government – Early June ‘09- Sen. Colburn was asked on C-span to define ‘Socialism’
People should look that up – Cspan.org
The press does not question the ability of congress to understand and comprehend international policy and international law and most importantly the lack of understanding other countries’ culture.
‘…Congress's general authorization for the war against al-Qaeda and its affiliates, and the international laws of war. ‘
David Brooks wrote "for Americans who most of the time, foreign relations are kind of boring'
Pre-911, 5% of Americans owned a passport; now- due to requirements for Bahamas and Mexico beach vacations - 10% of Americans own a passport. I wonder- how many members of congress possess a passport.
Too many Americans – including many of the 535 members of congress cannot even read a map of their own country.
On September 12, 2001 – Of the congress in 2001- how many of the 535 members understood international law? How many owned a passport?
The world warned us not to invade Iraq- What did America do?
We ignored the world, renamed French Fries and invaded Iraq.
The GOP ignored their foreign policy leader Dick Lugar when he stated Obama was doing the right thing with the recent turmoil in Iran.
The press also does not question the ability of the congress or leaders in government to understand domestic issues that are facing our country.
Governor Sanford of SC emailed his mistress stating internet connection is NO GOOD at his farm.
I guess this is acceptable for the Republicans.
Does the governor care that rural South Carolina has unreliable internet?
When you hear Obama talk about Broadband from coast to coast - 'FOR ALL' - this is what he is talking about fixing. Maybe the Governor will be interested in this.
Obama ran on Broadband coast to coast- FYI- Obama won.
How long have computers been in America- for consumer use?
John McCain never learned how to use a computer?
Could anyone imagine if all Americans followed his lead? If we all followed John McCain's lead- then none of us would be here posting!
Progress? We had the do nothing congress for 6 out of 8 yrs during Bush- what did they do?
Telecommunications Lobbying created their oligopolies, (monopolies are illegal in USA)
Wonder why we can’t compete globally?
WHY does JAPAN offer World’s Fastest Broadband at $20 Per Home but America does not?
4-3-09-By Saul Hansell
The fastest consumer broadband in the world is the 160-megabit-per-second service offered by J:Com, the largest cable company in Japan.
The cable modem needed for that speed costs about $60, compared with about $30 for the current generation.
By contrast, Verizon is spending an average of $817 per home passed to wire neighborhoods for its FiOS fiber optic network and another $716 for equipment and labor in each home that subscribes, according to Sanford C. Bernstein & Company.
Is this ok with the GOP?
A crisis that both Obama and Clinton ran on- Healthcare reform- FYI- Obama won.
On C-Span- John McCain’s response to the healthcare problem was that there was not enough competition.
A C-Span viewer asked him regarding his solution to the healthcare problem that we have had 40 years of competition- why do we have this crisis?
He then threw back his body and said we have problems- no solution.
Do you think Obama would give this as an answer? While on C-span, Mr. McCain could not thank his GOP Party enough for giving him the nomination of his party.
Obama and Hillary also ran on Climate Change- FYI- Obama won.
Senator Durbin of Illinois stated the Banks own the Senate. I am sure he will probably be stating the same for the Energy bill and the Healthcare bill.
The Chairman of Chamber of Commerce was on c-span and would not answer how many insurance companies he represents. Was asked numerous times- would not answer.
The Senate- a 100 Member debating club - all with the same goal- more contributions.
Step outside the Senate- Senators?
Today- how many of the 535 members have a clue about finance, or economics, or healthcare or global climate change or believe in global climate change?
Indiana Representative, Mike Pence is the legislature who is not sure if evolution is real. When do you think he will be sure one way or the other?
My guess- he will decide depending on the education of his constituents.
Have you watched some of those congressional hearings?
Al Gore won a Nobel Peace Prize an Oscar- and many other international awards-yet the GOP opposition – well they know best.
8 years of 'no child left behind' - the USA -does not even rank within the top 25 for education in the world.
