How about convincing corporate CEO's and the super-wealthy who own media outlets that 'chewing out their own organs' isn't in their best interest?
EX: Yes, I consider myself superior to my bowels. They do a lot of work for me that neither I nor any machine could do for myself (provided I could even locate myself in the physical world, beyond roughly floating somewhere 'in' my head or around it).
FOR, I don't live just to turn food to shit, MY FRIENDS. That would be a purely mechanical existence, providing only for the conditions of survival, stupidly forgetting that survival--for the lucky, anyway--survives for the sake of a more prestigious goal. Contrary to socialists, who would rather rally solidarity around the principle: one must turn food into solid waste.
Though I am better than shitting, I realize that I can only tax my bowels so much before they give out, or violently revolt against me, whether suddenly and quickly, or slowly and contipatedly. Therefore, though I revile the nastiness therein, and even resent the fact that I need to suffer such indignity (housing the nasty little workers down below, feeding them, clearing out their refuse), I find a way of quietly respecting my bowels, for they do fine work for me, which makes all of my superior enjoyment of my finery possible.
We need to initiate recall campaigns against every sitting Republican Senator, based on their obstruction of effective government through filibuster.
Barry, and Joe I guess, is many things but a historian is not one. barry, and again apparently Joe, is so arrogant that he chooses to ignore history. (his desire to rewrite the constitution and fix the 'failings' of the founding fathers is for another time).Clearly the two most disastrous administrations for the economy in the past 50 years are Johnson and Carter (let real historians judge Bush in time). Johnson's economic and military policies nearly bankrupted the country, fiscally and morally. We are still feeling the negative effects of the great society and lets not forget it was LBJ who moved social security into the general slush fund. Carter's nightmare doesn't even deserve mention other than dems also dominated congress during his term.
While Kennedy clearly gets an incomplete, I believe both he and truman would be too "conservative" for today's democratic party. Barry has totally turned Kennedy's "ask not what your country can do..." around! Kennedy, also understood capital formation and reduced taxes.
stagnation under reagan?? I guess Joe didn't have a mortgage or a job or any investments during the late 70's. The 90's were good for the economy, but let's remember a few things that benefitted Bill... the natural economic cycle was turning in his favor as he took office, there was a huge peace dividend after the cold war ended, the investment climate created during the 80's unleashed torrents of private capital into new ventures and capital markets, the clinton's success came after the other party took control of congress.
But sadly, I miss clinton now. I think he understands capital formation, free trade and general economic policy far better than barry (or mccain). Higher capital gains taxes, higher income taxes (yes on everybody, barry will quickly forget the middle class), trade barriers, kyoto type handcuffs and barry's infrastructure investments could doom this economy. oh, and the stock market, it looks forward not back. the recent 'correction' correlates closely to barry's ascendance in the polls. should mcain win, the market will bounce 10-20%. Should barry win, near term market will be flat because his expected win is already discounted into current prices. Sadly, for those who measure the markets in static date to date increments, barry may very well benefit from a recovery from today's unusually low market valuations.
barry's arrogance is breathtaking...what programs have the government ever run that are successful? yet he, and his, will do it better than our founders or the 43 preceding administrations. The intended and unintended consequences of his programs could set us back decades. I pray he is a one term wonder.
Since Slick Willy is responsible for starting the $2.3 trillion economy crisis, it's a good thing that Obama has him on his side.
"Inside scoop is that the Supremes are poised to disqualify him if the real polls demonstrate that he might really win."
Haha. Pooper-scooper needed for THAT scoop.
have so much trouble spelling Conason?

For the moment, scaring voters is no longer so easy. The Republican administration is nationalizing financial institutions and Republican economists are demanding big federal spending initiatives. But if Obama wants to avoid the defeats of Clinton's first two years, he must consistently remind Americans what has succeeded and who has failed -- and why.
My comment:
Ain't that the truth. What is is about this that is so hard for rednecks, radio-heads, cable-heads, and out-Foxed Americans to understand?? Too much inbreeding and steroids among the Christian Right has taken its toll: An increase in money-hungary, dueling banjos-loving, fake wrestling-loving, Blackwater-loving, and stock cars-loving folks who can't think.
WHATEVER BE THE ARGUMENT,AMERICANS ARE HEADED FOR THE WORST DISASTER IF THEY OPT FOR OBAMA.WAKE UPAMERICANS AND BE IN YOUR SENSES
"What Obama needs to explain, over and over again, is that Democratic economic programs have succeeded in promoting growth precisely because they distribute national wealth more widely than the Republican tradition of trickle-down." Yeah. Sure thing Joe. Let's start with Fannie and Freddie shall we? Then we can cover protectionism, unions, raising taxes in a recession and banning offshore drilling (which does such a great job of distributing our national wealth to the Middle East). Oh and don't forget open borders where we distribute our jobs and keep domestic wages artificially lower.
Obama should appoint a liaison to hold weekly instructional sessions with the American people, either on public TV or via web site, about how the economy works in America. If people are aware of the overall picture and get a feel for what is involved - in simple but mature language and concepts, perhaps people will become more educated and understand what is happening and how they are affected.
What the Republicans are so hysterical about is that their corporate buddies may not get the breaks they've been used to, and there will be more fairness in our tax system and federal contract process. That is why they are using the deception of 'redistribution of the wealth' terminology - after they have redistributed it upward to their favorite corporate sugar daddies, Obama may bring it back to where it belongs - to the middle class and small businesses, and companies providing services and products for the good of Americans. The good old boys cannot stand that but this is the day of reckoning and they are leaving skid marks as they kick and scream against change. They are like Gollum holding onto the ring as he sinks into the fires of Mt. Doom.
