The dumbing down of the GOP

Why aren't more conservatives disgusted that their party nominated a person devoid of qualifications for the vice presidency (again)?

The letters thread is now closed.

Who Needs Elite Degenerates?

Sara Palin proves the irrelevance of the over-educated, over-credentialed liberal fascists who dominate public discourse in America. These strivers embody the worst characteristics of meritocracy. The elites' worldview is grounded in the false notions that an ability to score well on standardized tests; an ability to play sycophant to a series of solipsist pedantics, conveys some special privilege. In contrast, Sara is a real human being who gives us hope that someday the elites will be put to work in bicycle factories and no longer allowed to pollute the atmosphere with marxist utopianism. America was built with muscle and sweat, not by abstruse blatherings in self-important academic publications. Sara reminds us that the sweat that results from hard work is far superior to the flopsweat that results from sitting under the lights for a photo op. America needs Sara Palin, we will be better off without the elitists.

@gehgoeson

As long as we brought one person aboard it was on topic I guess. Enjoy. You'll never be the same.

Enjoy Tina's Sarah, too. Already saw it. Priceless.

Sleeping now...

So far, no one has proven me wrong...

Still just emotionalist bullshit that doens't answer any real questions and just throws the word "elite" around without any real context. Nice to see joe was right.

Stupid conservatives / Brilliant liberals

I am a conservative. I could make a long list of my education, accomplishments, etc. etc. which would be boring but should establish me as something other than "dumb". However, I fully believe Sara Palin is absolutely competent to be VP and far more capable of being President than Obama. Somewhere along the way I discovered that when in an argument the opponent begins to attack you personally, generally you have won the issue and the personal attack is all they have left. I am rather intrigued that the liberal mantra has now become that conservatives are just too stupid to elect appropriate Presidents. Is this really your position? If I think Hillary Clinton's riding on her husbands coattails to become a candidate provides zero qualifications, I must be stupid. If I believe Sara Palin's success as governor of a state makes her qualified, I must be stupid. However, if I am excited about Obama's rise from obscurity I am simply brilliant. If the liberals have an actual argument against Sara Palin, please compare their resumes and get back to me. Most liberals feel Bill Clinton was qualified to be President, he had similar experience to Sara, small state governor. We have not elected a President in the country without executive experience or military experience in my lifetime. GWB, governor Tx. Clinton, Gov of Arkansas. GB I, VP, Reagan, Gov of CA. Carter, Gov Georgia. etc., etc. Now a governor is not qualified and a senator is? And I am stupid for not understanding this? The even better theory is, if I dont vote for Obama, I must be racist. If I didnt like Hillary, I must hate women. This is an example of actual thinking on the liberals part? I guess I really must be stupid.

@Donut44

"The American people clamor for something different than what we get in DC and so what do we get?"

Well, in the case of your Palin/McCain ticket -oops, there I go again- McCain/Palin ticket... we American People get to contemplate the continuation and expansion of the last 8 years of governmental train-wreck.

"Palin's biggest obstacle to answering a question directly sometimes is the fact that her running mate is McCain."

Ooooh... I see whatcha mean there, Donut. It's too bad she can't tell us how old the Earth is!

Whaddaya you think, Donut? How old is our planet? Huh? (wink)

"She can't answer the way she feels because her Pres. is a typical Senator."

What? George W. Bush... is a 'typical senator'? Or did you mean to say that Senator John McCain is actually President.. already?

You're not stupid, Donut. You're delusional.

VP Debate Polls

I checked many different polls on the VP debate and I've yet to come up with a single poll that showed Palin to have won! Not a single one. I guess I didn't check the Fox News one - dollars to donuts they have her "winning" handily. That would be the only one. All the other polls show Biden winning by as many as 30 points! That's a lot! The Republicans have the news media so cowed, so afraid to be factual, that most pudits or reporters just lazily say, "Oh, it was a draw." They are cowards. Considering the depths of expectations for Palin, I think she performed (and it WAS a performance) fine. Joe Biden blew her off the stage in class and intelligence. There was NO contest. The fact that Palin did not melt down completely must have been a big relief to her "base", but was not a big surprise to the rest of us. I mean, there MUST HAVE been a reason to choose her as VP nominee. Being able to be at a participant at a debate and NOT debate must be the one skill we were not able to appreciate... until now. In Republicans circles, it is unfashionable to be educated. That is no surprise either. They've been trying to dumb down Americans schools for years. Palin is the role model for it.

Palin is not only too dumb, she is too weird for Washington

Sarah is too weird for Washington DC and all of the Y and X Geners know it.

Palin's church used cell phones to "spread" the spirit of God. I would like to see a parody of her church and the nutty beliefs of her cult that mainstream religion has banned on SNL.

farce about ace

Forgive me if i'm repeating what someone else has written..too many posts to read them all. This is palin verbatim from the debate :

"I'm not one to attribute every activity of man to the changes in the climate"

Is it just me or, in addition to all her other deficiencies, she has got this issue the wrong way round altogether ???
