...but they'll learn to love Sarah once she takes the oath.
McCain's judgment was flawed in her selection as VP. Palin is excessively decisive with very little apparent knowledge to justify such confidence. She is therefore dangerous in any leadership role. As well, McCain's judgment was flawed in her selection as VP. There also seems to be a signature brain deficiency that causes such people to pronounce nuclear as nucular and after seeing how similarly wired leaders like George Bush have handled things over the last eight years, it may be one of many telltale 'warning signs' we can use to determine a leaders' propensity for paranoid pre-emptive logic and faulty decision making.
...back to The Daley Thug Machine and Delaware-based Scranton.
This VP run will look good on her resume, even if she loses. She will be a player from now on. Nobdy has found any real scandals in her history.
She plays the "dumb down" strategy very well. But she is practical. After this, she wil be the new Newt Gingrich, except she will have legs (yuk-yuk), and she will have future chances.
Even if she is a rookie now, this election makes her into a top veteran contender. And! (cryin' out loud), she may actually learn something real and useful. She may be good for us in the future.
Yeah. I guess I would be as angry as they are if Obama had picked someone like Sarah Palin to be his running mate. (And I don't mean female.)
The difference is that I wouldn't still be for Obama if he had. I would be insulted and figure he didn't deserve my vote.
When did we decide that only Harvard-educated lawyers were qualified to be President of the USA?
More than any other democracy, we have a government OF the people, BY the people. Any citizen in this great country can run for public office. The Constitution, and only the Constitution, dictates who may run in a Presidential election, and Sarah Palin qualifies.
The voters decide who is qualified by electing their choice. By definition, the winner is considered qualified by the electorate. No other qualifications matter.
Palin said: "The Obama-Biden Democrats and their allies are exploiting loopholes in Ohio election laws that we fear may result in unqualified voters casting ballots."
"The "loophole in Ohio election laws" that Palin is talking about is not a loophole at all, just a very sensible premise that is standard for absentee ballots -- that a vote is not technically cast until it is tabulated. Republican groups cited a rule that requires 30 days between registration and voting and sought to disqualify absentee ballots that were filled out on the same day as registration. Same-day registration and filling out of absentee ballots is the best option available to unregistered troops abroad and hospitalized vets in VA facilities. The "Obama-Biden Democrats and their allies" are non-partisan veterans advocacy groups like Veterans For America and IAVA that fought tooth and nail to defeat a lawsuit that challenged this very sensible notion to protect thousands of troops and vets from disenfranchisement.
With deployed troops donating 6:1 in favor of Obama, the cynic in me can see why the GOP doesn't want their votes to count. Then the decent person in me chimes in and says, "I can't see how anyone could try to block a deployed soldier's right to vote and be able to live with themselves."

I love how us liberals are supposed to be nerdy, pansy, effeminate weaklings...at the same time as angry, vicious scary, dangerous monsters.
Anyone else see a disconnect here?
p.s. Kilroy, as to Carly, of course I would find her appalling, but we wouldn't be discussing her lack of intelligence. Like Condi, even if I disagree with her, I see the intelligence. Besides, the R's don't need successful creds in business, or they never would have voted for Bush, Jr. It's not even the beauty contestant aspect, Kay Bailey Hutchinsen has that, and I've never seen her dissed as dumb, either.
I must admit that I'm pessimistic. As a country, we're in for some rough seas. Our Empire is very expensive to run. I think the standard of living for the middle class will continue to be under assault (weak dollar, massive government and trade deficits, continued global labor arbitrage). You can add the financial crisis and global deflation on top of that.
The Russians are certainly out to reassert their dominance. The Chinese are probably the most dangerous of all. We help build their economy by buying all kinds of crap while they let us hang ourselves with borrowed money. We've spent over 700 Billion messing with the Iraqs, but the Chinese can mess with us, the global superpower, for a little over a trillion. That's efficiency. I think the M'F'ing Jihadis are still a real problem.
Our military budget is now so large, it's impossible to talk budget reform with out talking reducing military spending. To me, it's hard to make the case that our national security is improving by borrowing money from the Chicoms. Neither candidate wants to grab that third rail.
One of our best shots at turning this around is a serious alternative energy plan. That could create good jobs at home, create technology for export, reduce our trade deficit, and decrease the importance of the middle east. I'm not holding my breath, but it's one of the best opportunities I see.
Other than that, act like any other intelligent rich person. De leverage your holdings. Hold income producing assets debt free. Move your money out of the dollar. Hold some gold in case everything blows up. Sounds pretty Republican, eh?
Oh yeah, educate the masses. Help them understand how their lifestyle is ripping them off.
This is an absolute first and frankly it's f---ing brilliant. The California Democratic Party has a giant electronic billboard up somewhere near a Los Angeles-area rally that Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is doing today that is displaying live text-message questions people are sending in. On top of that, the whole thing is streaming live back onto the web using UStream.tv. Check it out:
http://www.techpresident.com/blog/entry/31013/ask_sarah_palin_ca_dems_interactive_billboard_goes_live
To submit a question for our electronic billboard, text the keyword ASK then the question to the number 69866.
For example, send to 69866: ASK You said you'd run a respectful campaign on the issues, what happened?
Keep your questions under 160 characters including spaces and remember to keep them family friendly since we're showing them in public.
