With regard to this article's header, I would ask the same question of the Dems-except referring to their Presidential nominee!
I enjoyed your post on GOPAC and I have always believed that Palin is highly packaged, despite some of her weaknesses.
In my paranoid moments, I actually believe that John McCain may not be meant to win this year. Not talking a higher power here but rather the powers that be. The right has never liked McCain. He has been a thorn in their side because, war hawk though he is, he is also essentially both a bipartisan compromiser and tends to wander off the range.
Whoever becomes president will need a higher power if there is such a thing. If the circumstances to come were a foxhole, there would be plenty of barely religious folks praying. I say that as an agnostic. My intuition tells me that very bad times are ahead, that the economy will not be easily rescued, that many political dreams will end up on hold, and the Al Queda types will see the times to come as a golden opportunity.
Remember the oil embargo of the 1970s? If someone wants to put the screws to us, wouldn't they do it soon?
Just my wandering opinion seeking your more concrete one.
As for you liberal nutcases that keep harping on the wolf hunting thing, here is a link that explains the principle of keeping the predator population under control.
If only you liberal nutbags cared as much for the human population, especially babies, as you claim to care for the wolves.

We have dumbed down education for years. My Dad was right when he said we never vote in the smartest person. I think President Clinton snuck in because he has a folksy way about him and was called Bubba. Then again I know people with a genius I.Q., but who have no common sense. A degree doesn't always mean a person gets it either. A lot of Universities and Colleges don't have the same standards they once did. Not every PhD is brilliant. The academic approach to the Stock Market is a case in point as those in the Market for years realize that it doesn't work the way the books say it is suppose to.
That is similar to Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, ecetera. They are ideals and ideals are a pure form of ideology, when applied they don't work as written. There is a lot to say for common sense, street smarts and intuition. Some of our brilliant minds and most successful people don't have a degree.
I'm not defending Palin here, just stating an opinion about intellect. I grew up when a kid was left back if they didn't grasp the concepts in a class. Pushing them forward without any understanding does not do anyone any good.
Is it just me, or are there a whole bunch of desperate-sounding pro-palinists popping up real recently everywhere?
I love the smell of Republican despair in the morning. Oh. Wait. I guess it's late afternoon. Well, I love it then too.
Seriously, who are you people?
(I admit, I'm picturing John and Cindy with whips forcing all of their help to sit down at a computer and extol the virtues of the virtue-less. If this is the case try leaving some kind of code for help in the comments you write... Something they'd never be smart enough to catch, like... sHe is cErtainLy a Pretty aMazing candidatE.)
It's not just you, HankT27. I too have noticed the swarming of Republican operatives. They...:
1. ...are often first and ONLY time posters.
2. ...never respond.
3. ...are likely members of Palin's church or family.
4. ...probably bleat about morality when they aren't practicing obfuscation.
5. ...vote for the Torture Party in the name of Jesus!
It was the "responsible" Repugnants who did not veto one spending bill. Those "responsible" smart took six years and 4000 deaths in Iraq to change their strategy.
Even after gas, food, houses and the cost of healthcare all went up it took repugnants a mortgage meltdown to make them acknowledge that the economy was in bad shape. Fever every thing going up is a tax on the people and these higher taxes were brought on by eight years of incompetenc of Bush and the GOP. I say again in the six years that the GOP controlled the White House,Senate and House Bush did not veto one spending bill.
Here is a list of some of his cronies.
Brownie,Rumsfield,Duke Cunningham,Foley,Larry Craig, and Alberto Gonzales are just a few examples of Republicans that took responsibility for their actions and of course were super smart. LOL! Go back and check your history. Paul Breemer lost, let me repeat LOST 8 BILLION dollars.
Eight billions dollars went unaccounted for when it was transferred to Iraq on crates. The Republicans did no oversight in six years to find out where eight billion dollars went to. Where was the Maverick?
He was voting for waterboarding, bankruptcy laws that benefited corporations, comphrehinsive immigration, no time tables for withdrawals and against minimum wage increases. The only real time McCain went against Bush was during his campaign. He knew he was going to run for office so he wanted campaign finance laws to be reformed so he could compete with people richer then his self like Bush. He did not care about the people it was about him. Check the record the "mavarick" voted with Bush and the GOP most of times. He has even hired many of the same people that were in Bush's campaign. So how is he a "mavarick?"
is non-productive for the purposes of trying to take back the administration from Republicans. Democrats and progressive independents need to learn from Republicans about reaching undecides/ Republican supporters to get their own message across.
I work in healthcare and am involved in teaching people from a wide range of educational backgrounds, from functionally illiterate folks to folks with multiple graduate degrees. Complaining about how people can't understand complex ideas never got me anywhere. Changing how I presented my ideas and what I focused on did.
Certainly, there are Americans who just don't care but I think there are a great number who are reachable. Obama/ Biden have some great ideas but I'm not sure how good they are getting those ideas understood by the public -- e.g. tax neutrality/ cuts for the middle-class.
Some ideas:
1. Assure materials so they are readable at a 6th grade English level. This can be done without being condescending. (This is what health care literature writers aim for when trying to reach the largest audience.)
2. Use more videos/ animation/ pictures in presenting ideas instead of primarily text/ words. Some people are visual learners.
3. Repeat, repeat, repeat -- I thought Joe Biden did a great job of this re: billions spent in Iran during the VP debate.
4. Prioritize the points you want to make and limit the number of points during a speech or on a website home page e.g.. What has worked for me is emphasizing only 3 points for example during a formal presentation. People can only remember and take in so much at once. They can always ask questions later.
Maybe the above are obvious and hackneyed to many but this is what I thought of when watching the debates and visiting Obama/Biden website.
