    define: mav·er·ick

    mav·er·ick:

    n.

    1. An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it.

    2. Someone who refuses to conform to established standards of conduct; blunt and aggressive; generally oblivious to their effect on others

So, given that both McCain and Palin were branded long ago, they should be considered the property of the same people who got this country into such a mess.
