KStone & Lolcait
KStone:
Oh boy the "if you criticize a, then you must criticize b in an equal manner otherwise..." line come out.
Look, at least a dozen times now you've said that Obama's support among blacks is race-based. I'm not arguing with you on that point and you're right, there really isn't anything wrong with it. My point is that while you'd expect Obama to carry a majority of blacks, part of the reason he's winning them to the tune of 90% + is the Clintons nonstop racially tinged comments. You keep dismissing the effect that things like the MLK/LBJ comments, Ferraro's tirade and the "hardworking" white voter comments have had on Hillary's support among African Americans, but it's real: At best, Hillary and her husband have repeatedly misspoken in ways that are condescending to black voters, and I believe that is the difference between Obama carrying say 75% of the black vote and Obama winning a ridiculous proportion of that demographic. It's been the difference in this race.
Your belief that blacks would've supported any viable black candidate by a 9-1 margin over Hillary, the wife of an ex-President who was wildly popular among African Americans going into this race, is no more valid than my hypothesis and it makes a lot less sense.
Lolcait:
No, when they're not leveled at the Clintons when a Clinton is running in a long, hotly contested race against a candidate you like better.,/i>
I'm kind of numb to these charges of bias since it's a common and lazy way to dismiss whoever you disagree with. Sure I'm biased against the Clintons. I'm biased against them because in my opinion they've built a pretty consistent and obvious track record over the course of this campaign.
And I don't believe they're racist. But I do believe they've deliberately tried to exploit racial tensions in this campaign and it's backfired on them in a massive way. And when this race is over I think both their reputations and standing in the party are going to suffer for it. The whole idea that the Clintons have built up so much currency among African Americans that they can say whatever they want, no matter how tone deaf and condescending to black voters it sounds, is bull.

Couldn't get past it
"totally obliterating" Iran in the event it made a nuclear strike against Israel, and then reiterated that same statement last weekend, she made what was, until then, the single most ill-considered comment of the campaign."
This is supposed to be the previous most ill-considered comment? The current most ill-conceived comment may indeed be ill-considered but I couldn't get past the above quote.
SO if Iran nukes Israel, we do what? Send them a letter expressing disapproval? What do you think we would have to express about what we would do in that situation? It is the whole concept behind MAD. The reason nukes have not been used to date is not because everyone is happy and hopeful and young, but because everyone must believe that any nuke attack leads inevitably to mutual destruction.
Iran getting nukes is not worse than the black plague and the Holocaust combined as current US rhetoric suggests, but the issue remains that an Iran with Nukes gains significant political power. The US does not want that to happen in the middle east.
Clintons statement was posturing, but as a negotiating tactic it did not threaten but instead demonstrated a don't fuk with me attitude. It's a "I got bombs and I'll personally stick them up your ass if I have to - don't make me." attitude.
Clintons bluster may not disuade or prevent Iran from getting nukes but at least sets the stage for when Iran does acquire nukes. At any rate its a better tactic than sending left over "Change we can believe in" campaign buttons to Iran.

I have the uneducated voters! w00t?
Its great how she brings up the fact that more uneducated and stupid voters support her more. Yes, I see the pattern.

This should be post of the month:

Thanks for a bit of reasoned intervention. Very very welcome in this wasteland.
Of course you're talking to people who were hell bent on "punishing Hillary" for her Iraq war, for that Change dude that was all against it but then funded it anyway when HE got to Washington.
See the left let's you do that if you're black. It's okay. Okay to be a racist too. Okay to be a wealthy and famous black demagogue who doesn't pay his taxes too apparently.

Hillary and race
I am impressed that Mr. Conason continues to give Ms. Clinton the benefit of the doubt in his latest comments. However, he is simply a fool if he has not yet discovered what is going on with the Clinton candidacy. It has been obvious for some time that one of the smartest and most capable members of our party has become seriously ill with Presidential Fever. Ms. Clinton will say or do ANYTHING she feels will help her become President, regardless of truth, morality, or any other "minor" barriers to her objective---as, for example, an opponent who seems to have greater communication and leadership skills than she. I have watched in horror as Ms. Clinton has evolved from a thoughtful and incredibly bright woman into one of the most disturbing personalities of our era. It is extremely sad and painful to watch, but it is even more sad and disturbing that the leaders of our party stand back and passively watch this self-immolation with nary a single attempt to stop the madness. As time passes, it has become clear that no senior Democrat has the guts or the will to stop this farce. Consequently, the mental illness of one individual has now infected the entire party, to the point where the party has become virtually dysfunctional. How and why one woman can destroy an entire party is completely beyond my comprehension---but we are watching the destruction day by day....
