Obama, get ready for the "Clinton rules"

As Wednesday's awful debate proves, it won't matter who the presidential nominee is -- the press will play footsie with McCain and attack the Democrat.

The letters thread is now closed.

Would You LIke Sprinkles With That Blow Job?

OF course the media a reich wing. Money. Power. Whoredom. Billary's already long since been reduced to a whining shrew. Obama has a much better shot at going direct to the people. Screw Fox News. Throw in ABC, NBC, CBS, BFD, KMA, KFC, and CYA. Go on the Daily Show and Colbert and tell the rest to piss off. Raise megabuck, buy time, tell it straight.

Remember the MSM attacks on Gore

During the 200 presidential campaign, the MSM kept blasting and mocking Gore for allegedly claiming that he "invented the Internet". Except, he never said anything that remotely resembling that. Actually, Gore said the absolute truth, which was that when he had served in the senate, he was the first legislator to recognized the potential of the Internet technology vis-a-vis commerce and education and suggest that the government invest in that technology. Even when the media, especially network reporters, were presented with Gore's actual, as opposed to MSM and Carl Rove manufactured quote, they just shrugged and kept repeating the "Gore claimed to have invented the Internet" mantra, which caused his great political damage and contributed to his narrow victory which the GOP managed to reverse with the help of the supreme court.

Dear papzug

There's no reason to shout, and her name is spelled H-I-L-L-A-R-Y.

Just wait for SNL

I'm sure that once the writers at Saturday Night Live realize the material they have from the press's McCain free ride, they'll make clear to the world what's going on, and then the MSM will have to straighten out. After all, do you really think it's a coincidence that Obama's free ride ended shortly after the writers' strike did??

dan from nj

The SNL skit last Saturday was completely damning of Clinton and McCain. The Petraus hearings provided the backdrop to enumerate Clinton lies and McCain's hypocrisy. Did you miss it?

Salon won't give up.

Now that it's becoming obvious that Clinton won't win the nomination, the line is "the party's over for you Obama. See how you like the harsh attacks." It's like he's being threated for winning.

The implication is that he hasn't been dealing with personality assassination from day one. That poor Hillary has suffered while Obama's had it easy. On the contrary, he's been fending of broadsides and character assassination from day one—from the diligent Hillary camp. And he's shown he can deflect it and diffuse it.

Don't worry Salon, though I know you'd love to. Obama will do just fine.

The Salon rules

1.) Always defend Hillary Clinton at any costs. (If you are in any way unclear about this ask Joan Walsh.)

2.) Always attack Barack Obama

3.) Always attack Barack Obama passive-aggressively. Don't state what you actually feel. Don't make any factual claims that can be proven. Don't make any statements that can be challenged. Use only innuendo.

4.) Always charge sexism. At every turn. No matter what. Regardless of whether the poster, member of the media, or whoever is male or female, young or old.

5.) If you don't see sexism yourself, definitely make sure to use it as a defense. State it's something you just "feel." (Note: you might feel sexism in real life and think this method is somehow degrading it. That is a secondary concern. First we must elect Hillary Clinton.)

6.) Mention John McCain as rarely as possible. We've set up a side forum, on the right hand side of the page called the War Room, where this is covered. It's some of our best journalism. Don't tell anyone.

7.) Never report any bad stories on Hillary Clinton. Ever. Ignore Tuzla, ignore Mark Penn, ignore the Colombia Free Trade Agreement, ignore her Kyl-Lieberman vote, don't ever under any circumstances discuss her having voted to authorize this war. Ever.

8.) Finally ignore anything Barack Obama does good. Particularly if he happens to defend Hillary at some sad excuse for an ABC debate, when the moderators bring up Tuzla and he says he doesn't care and they shouldn't either. Don't EVER cover this. It undermines rules 1-4.

WHY IS THIS ABUSIVE LETTER STARRED?

WHY IS THIS LETTER STARRED? (by 'Cabick')

"Title: the obama campgain is happy enough about clinton rules

"so long as they're only being applied to clinton. the obama campaign has gleefully availed itself of the fruits of "hillary rules" this entire campaign while simultaneous claiming to be above small politics.

"now that they've been lightly applied to him, he demands that the campaign be about substance."

This, above, doesn't conform at all to what I know about the Obama campaign; Where is this coming from?

"had this campaign been about nothing but substance from the beginning, obama wouldn 't have had any clear road to the nomination, given that most pundits agree that hillary's policies (and grasp of policy) are more fully formed than obama's."

CLINTON-CAMPAIGN RHETORIC?

"so his campaign, with the help of a press largely operating by "clinton rules", has instead focused on portraying clinton as an amoral, grasping political beast whose only motivation is cold ambition. she and her husband are probably racists, too. it's incredible what terrible people they really are! there's plainly nothing they won't stoop to. right out of the republican playbook of the 90's."

This is a gross exagerration, nay, lie about what the Obama campaign has said bout Clinton; Media say this, ordinary people (on blogs) say this, but you are making this up.

"al gore went through the same thing in the 2000 race. remember what a liar he was, what a serial exaggerator? of course, now he's the goreacle."

Another mean and wrong statement.

"had either al gore or hillary clinton made the claims that obama made during the last debate ... "i never said i wouldn't wear a flag pin" -- both flatly false statements" [WHY WOULD YOU SAY THIS IS FALSE? WHAT NONSENSE.]) it would have been taken as damning proof of their moral bankruptcy. [YOUR LANGUAGE IS EXTREME AND WRONG] the fact that obama was able to make those statements without being flayed ['FLAYED?' NO ONE USES FLAYED IN THIS CONTEXT. IT EVOKES SLAVERY VIOLENCE.] makes it clear that "clinton rules" are still not being applied to him in full force.

the obama campaign has largely been politics as usual hiding being a mask of sanctimonious piety. yuck.

YUCK IS THE PROPER DESCRIPTION OF THIS (CLINTON CAMPAIGN-INSPIRED?) MEMO.

SALON.COM has done this before, starred abusive posts. Why? Who?
