  • @maureen America, land that I love

You [libertyson] seem to be suggesting that Barack Obama has solved the riddle of the sphinx, That's so literal that it cannot be your meaning so you seem to be implying, by mentioning psychology, that one of the candidates has an Oedipus complex or maybe it's an Electra complex.

I think you missed out on a prior post where such psychological analysis did take place and Oedipus was involved. Athene and Apollo have always been my faves, so I sat that one out.

I'm certainly learning. American politicians need spiritual mentors to "bring me to Jesus" or to tell them about the way, the truth and the light, as John McCain also feels the need for some other windbag preacher to endorse him.

That reminds me of one of my favorite Aussie jokes: "The Brits sent all the religous nuts to America, and all the criminals to Australia. The Australians got the better part of the deal". Yes, this is another statistic where poor Hillary is falling further and further behind. Obama only has one militant black preacher endorsement, while McCain has Hagee, who, in classic Protestant tradition, has called the Catholic church, the "Great Whore"; and Parsley, who claims it the destiny of America to crusade against all muslims in a global deathmatch. Hillary needs to close this gap ASAP.

Noble prize winner Richard Feynman and Nancy Reagan came from Queens, so the history of the area is a bit more complex than portrayed.

How do you say "swollen" head in Gaelic? Cos something tells me you know that one just a little too well.

  • Fester...

"Obama only has one militant black preacher endorsement...Hillary needs to close this gap ASAP."

    Does this guy count?

  • @KcM Where do you guys find this stuff???

OK, they are still trailing badly behind McCain. Gonna be hard to beat the McCrusade.

  • Nothing gets by the Internets.

"@KcM Where do you guys find this stuff???"

The Internet sees all. Its gaze pierces cloud, shadow, earth, and flesh. You know of what I speak, Fester. A great eye, lidless, wreathed in flame.

  • the lidless eye

I thought we lost track of that guy after the fall of numenor.

O-BAMA, is a MAC Daddy, indeed!

  • Obama and Reverend Wright

Is there something wrong with my computer? I can't find the Salon articles on Obama's biggest crisis of this campaign.

  • Crisis?

Is that the one where Hillary lost another seven delegates today? Now, that's a tangible crisis. Race baiting preacher quoting is another manufactured manure load from the Klinton Kamp. Keep paddling. The river's rising. I'd suggest investing in a snorkel.

  • Milton.

It's right next to the story about Obama's 9 new delegates in Iowa.

  • Oops.

Or +10, as the case may be.

  • She does not need to apologize

why do these media type think they know it all. In their self righteousness - they TELL people what they have to do. I wish Joe Conason would spend more time doing research about his favored candiddate than digging the dirt on Geraldine because she had the guts to say out loud what many people are thinking.

I have yet to read an article, or hear about some "real" leadership exhibited by Obama on a larger scale other than a community organizer. My friend who devotes many weekends in a senior community has probably done more but she does not see herself as a presidential candidate.

Because he was given a chance to speak at the last democractic convention, he used all that attention for HIMSELF and got so big headed and ran for the presidency before he proved himself in the senate. I listen to his speeches carefully - Idon't see the charisma that media people like you seem to talk about all the time. Joe - do some more digging on why Obama very conveniently did not hear what his mentor and Uncle like figure was preaching at his church.

  • Of course no apology

The clintons and everyone associated with their campaign have one thing in common: they never admit a mistake, or apologize. And they didn't have sex with that woman. While Hillary fritters, her delegate count burns.

"I have yet to read an article, or hear about some "real" leadership exhibited by Obama on a larger scale other than a community organizer."

Then you're not trying, and/or not listening.

Sigh...you better start from Day 1. This WP article, written on the day Obama announced, discusses his leadership on a comprehensive campaign finance reform bill and death penalty reform in Illinois.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/08/AR2007020802262.html

From there, keep reading. I prefer Dreams from my Father, but perhaps The Audacity of Hope for you? It covers more of his leadership accomplishments.

  • Joe -- you're so naive

"Unlike Obama, who had to make his way in Chicago politics on his own merits after his stint as a community organizer and local lawyer..."

Have you read the Chicago newspapers lately? Maybe heard of an innocent guy by the name of Tony Rezko? He was Obama's biggest supporter in Illinois and helped Obama with a sweet real estate deal. Joe -- get real.

"Barrett and William Bastone continued to report on those links for the Voice when Ferraro ran for the Senate in 1992, discovering literally dozens of contributions and deals that involved the worst thugs in New York". Well one can certainly make the point that Obama has some crooked connections too!

I'm not sure whether Joe's usually keen political analysis is biased or simply naive!

  • Rezwho?

How many repeated, resultless, ridiculous times is Rezco gonna get recycled? Whenever I bring up Rezco people ask me if Rezco is an oil company, and I have to tell them "you must be confusing Rezco with Texaco or Conaco," and they look at me and say "oh" but funnily enough Rezco doesn't ring many bells of recognition to most people. But hey, I look at this Rezco thing a lot like a pet rock, maybe if you stare at it long enough it'll walk. Maybe Rezco will hang over Obama a lot like Clinton's Whitewater thing or Lewinsky gate or the Travel office investigation thing or the Bill Clinton purgury case, or the....I think you get the general idea. Keep looking at that rock.
