  • @ Beigey

I am always surprised by the certainty with posters make statement that are incorrect. The Canadian prime Minister announced in parliament, yesterday, that no one in the Clinton camp approached any Canadian official or otherwise about NAFTA.

Can't we have a discussion based on facts instead of charges and counter charges.

The Democrats on both sides may show how loyal they are in supporting their candidate. But over the top arguments, attacks about character and the usual hate stuff will end up with McCain in the White House.

Why am I not surprised: Democrats have shown, time and again, an striking ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. After all the Hillary hate stuff can one believe that at the end of the primary Sen Obama can call for unity? It will be the biggest joke in this campaign.

  • CONTRIBUTING TO A POISONOUS ATMOSPHERE

Here's the deal. Both Obama and Clinton have been successful in pursuing their own strategies -- his was to campaign in all 50 states, appealing to people to move beyond fear and self-interest to a vision of vision, collaboration, and unity, appealing to everyone's commitment to a collective hope for the future; Clinton's strategy was to hang on to the "blue" states, ignore the rest, add one more to reach the electoral college majority, and to appeal to people's self-interest and concerns and anxities and fears. Now we're in a stage where her campaign's "war room" tactics -- all or nothing, constant attack, all offense all the time -- seems to be draining the energy and hopefulness from the campaign, the voters, and the country. Combined with the growing negative economic news, it is going to be more difficult than ever to restore a positive, hopeful vision for the future, but it there's anyone who can do it, it's Obama. When the press contributes to Clinton's relentless attacks, it makes it more and more difficult for Obama to continue to offer a vision of unity and hope. More than the measure of Obama, however, it's a measure of Clinton -- her relentless ambition and unwillingness to focus on unity and hope and to put the good of the party and the people before her own fate.

OBAMA SENDS PEACE FEELER TO HILLARY

Sources in the Clinton camp revealed that Senator Clinton is considering an appropriate response to the hand delivered letter from her rival. The letter has been leaked on the internet with both camps vehemently denying responsibility.

    March 4, 2008

    Dear Hillary,

I first want to say that I learned a lot having our emotional experiences once again reversed on Tuesday. And again, my congratulations. You have drawn closer and, according to the media, we have a race.

But it would be tragic for our country not to have the chance to elect a NEW president (who WILL change our direction) that is not already tarnished by his or her own allies. The new president would certainly begin with a serious handicap, given all the ramifications. Fewer allies and more opponents at the least.

Therefore, I want to propose a truce on generic references to the suitability of the candidates. I believe that accountability on specific issues and the candidates' records and positions are and should be fair game and I intend to focus my critisisms on our very vulnerable opponent who has recently garnered the support of the president. We have our differences but I know I will find far greater disagreement over there in any case.

That does not mean however, that I will remain silent if I or my supporters are attacked. Please remember that we also sincerely believe that we are doing good for America. We Democrats WILL eventually need to work together to make the needed changes we all desire.

It DOES mean that we all - country, party and personally - will benefit in the long run if we do NOT engage in personal attacks that are based on someone's feelings or intuition. The voters I've met have plenty of feelings of their own and astute political intuition as well. At the end of the day I think they understand that neither of us is perfect and will choose who they think best represents their interests and will be best for their country. Let's not find ourselves asking any of our party's supporters to ultimately vote for a candidate they've come to doubt or resent. Too many may not agree to do so.

With respect to Florida and Michigan, I agree with you that it would be unfair to deny participation to the citizens of those states. This, in effect, is exactly what the governments of those states chose to do when they scheduled their primaries. I would support allowing these states to rerun their primaries per the agreed timetable or party funded caucuses prior to the convention if agreed to per DNC rules. It would be as unfair to deny a voice to those who did NOT participate in the original primaries believing them void, as it is to deny those who made the effort to vote originally. Hopefully, we needn't disagree on this issue.

Let us have a healthy competition in the best American tradition. Who can more thoroughly perceive and effectively illuminate the many flaws in the many positions of our worthy opponent, Senator John McCain? We can let the voters decide.

    Yours respectfully,

    Barak Obama

So: Hillary is relenlessly ambitious? And Obama? After watching this campaign any one who is NOT relenlessly ambitious will simply have not got here. Both candidates have positives and negatives. Let's leave the campaigns to run their course. The problem is that the folks on the sidelines are doing the damage: the irrationality seems to be in direct proportion to the distance from the campaign proper. Both camps have said things that are unfortunate. But let us cut them some slack and urge each side to focus on issues and not personalities.

  • 35 Years of Relevant Experience Baby!

Hillary's claim that she has 35 years of relevant experience is not persasive. The fact is that after graduating frm Yale, she spent most of her legal career and time spent working at the Rose Law Firm, an all white, "ultimate establishment" corporate law firm in the south that represents big business and corporations agaist unions, workers, minorities and women. To this day, it has no non-white attorneys. There is no evidence tht Hillary did anything to change that. In addition, she served on the Board of Walmart where she helpe deprive Walmart employees of health care and decent wages. While at the law firm, she represented companies like Madison, a company that was under federal investigation, and got involved in corrupt land deals like Whitewater. Although she some time working at the Childrens Lel Defense Fund, she stayed less than a year! Shame on you Hillary!
