Are the Clintons Even Fit to Represent Democratic Interests?
Does anyone actually remember the 90's?
Democrats had to spend all of their time not passing health care reform or improving the lives of the poor but defending the Clintons' personal actions as files went missing, travel office staff were politically railroaded, call records were hidden a la George W. Bush, a dot.com bubble was created, NAFTA was passed and pardons were issued to Clinton cronies.
Oh yeah, and the last Clinton administration ended in the second impeachment in American history.
All this sleaze might have been worth it if the Clintons had helped to forward the democratic agenda in the process. Instead they triangulated in such a way that the Democratic party lost THOUSANDS of local seats and the Republican Revolution was launched.
The Bottom Line: The Clinton do have a clear record to stand on. It is a record of putting their interests before those of their colleagues, their party or their country.

ljwalker53 back to your hate which you do have enough of
While you nit pick in bold, and not so bold type, and charcaterize yourself as a FAIR AND TOUGH junkie, how come you have not answered why Hillary Clinton proclaims that John McCain would be better than Barack Obama? Tell me, in your own words, that as a Democrat, it is not offensive to you too? Your posts are loaded with double standards, coded and worn out innuendos.
This board belongs to everyone. But I will not let you get away with cheap smear. Enough already.

Bravo. Well said. Do we want at least another 4 years of the Clintons playin' out their dysfunctions in public? Wanda Sykes said that we would have to increase the budget, just to keep guards on Bill Clinton to record his every waking hour.

@ KcM: Ah, Come On!
Caucuses are notoriously undemocratic. They are representative of those people who have the time, energy, ability to show up (usually on a Saturday), at a certain time.
I happen to be "older" and semi-retired (I still teach English and journalism courses), so I have the time. But what about voters who have children? Or those who work on Saturdays (service workers, for example)? What about those who have family responsibilities on weekends? Or those who have not only kids but adult parents to care for? What about elderly voters who need special assistance just to go out?
By the way, KcM: Since we're on the subject of delegates, why is it that Sen. Obama can get away with calling for Florida delegates to be seated -- during a press conference he had in Florida (against the DNC rules) -- but when Sen. Clinton calls for the same thing she's accused of being "unfair"? Here's the link:

Also -- thanks for having my back! I appreciate it, as I appreciate having a good debate and discussion with you. I've always found your posts to be honest and informed.

ljwalker53 back to your hate which you do have enough of
I quote, "That you cannot tells me more about Sen. Obama and what an Obama presidency might look like. It isn't reassuring."
Is that loaded with coded otherness of Obama and his ilk. Yes Ms Walker, if you folks would only let Barack Obama win the nomination by not engaging in dirty politics, then you will have to deal with people like us who you are so afraid of. We who are poor, we who are discriminated against, we cannot share in the American dream because people like you will not let us into the kingdom. But not all white people are like that at all. Only some who think they are entitled to. Obama's presidency will look great. It will finally embrace all people, black and white, rich and poor, male and female, immigrants, urban and rural, college educated and not college educated. That should scare the crap out of you, assuredly.

and ljwalker
You don't have to patronize KcM just to get back at me. Where I come from, that is called triangulation, a much touted Clinton tactic. You portray yourself as a good debater, but all I have seen is genteel hate against Obama and Obama supporters.

LJ...
That Obama quote about FL delegates is a reach, and I'm sure you know it. It wasn't even substantiated that the new rules had gone down at that point, and he was just crossing the street to get some cameras out of his mix. Seems pretty clear, but if not, I can provide some links.
As for caucuses, they are what they are. On my own website, I said before they even started in Iowa that they're probably a lousy way to figure all this out (http://www.ghostinthemachine.net/005160.html.) But, they are what they are, and Obama won them, and -- c'mon now -- would we really be having this conversation if Clinton had won them? Not to preempt your answer, but I think we both know we wouldn't. But feel free to sort me out if I'm wrong on this contention.

Madamfauntleroy.
I don't know what your game is, but ljwalker wasn't patronizing me in the slightest. It's cool. If you're an Obama supporter, look to the links I posted a page ago, and find happiness in the fact we've already won this. There's no reason to be a punk about it. Magnanimity is the answer. We need Clinton supporters' votes in the general, and we're all on the same team.

Joe why not just come out and endorse Hillary already.
Your damned biasness is so blatant I cannot read what you write anymore. Why shouldn't Obama ask about Hillary's tax returns? She had no problem demanding them from Rick Lazio in 2000. For Obama's Rezko "scandal", there will be about ten more money scandals for the Clintons.
Btw, it was a fine sight that the Chicago Tribune starting vetting Hillary's so called 35 years of experience. From their perspective, giving speeches and pouring tea and passing out cookies does not equal crisis management.

"Fair & Tough"
ljwalker53, you walk a brittle line of bullshit.
-
Are you an idiot, or do you just play one on Salon??
Mr. Conason,
It's not only the Clintons' 2007 tax returns that are in question.
Seriously, are you so blinded in your zeal on behalf of HRC that you are willing to put your journalistic credibility (such as it is) on the line???
As someone pointed out on TV earlier this evening, it's not like she has to go on Turbo Tax and do her taxes. She just needs to call her accountant -- or team of accountants, more likely -- and ask them to, you know, XEROX her most recent tax returns.
As for your free advice for Obama, please do feel free to extend the same courtesy to the Clintons. Ask them to share the records on the donors to the Clinton Presidential Library.
Ask them how, if Hillary has spent 35 years in selfless public service, she had $5 million at her disposal to lend to her campaign.
