  • And Some GOOD Advice

Whether or not you like or support Sen. Clinton, the fact remains that many of the attacks against her (especially by many Obama followers) lack merit, substance and truth, and serve frequently to distract from the many unanswered questions about Sen. Obama: about Antoin Rezko, about lobbyist money in his campaign, and about lobbyist support of his campaign.

Most Clinton supporters know that she is not the perfect candidate and we have disagreements with her. What we do know, however, is that there has never been anything untoward about her taxes/income -- as Conason points out. The same is true about Bill Clinton, again pointed out in this article. Finally! And there is little reason to believe that Sen. Clinton is currently hiding something in her tax returns.

I happen to support Sen. Clinton's candidacy for reasons I have identified on Salon and elsewhere. I believe she is vetted. If Sen. Obama has nothing to worry about, I also suggest he stop the distractions and answer the questions.

  • @ Jonathan: How Pathetic; A Rove Shill

It seems that smears, rumors, innuendo and fear are about all you offer in your "analysis." Most of it is blatantly misogynistic and offers little more than generalizations and ad-hominem attacks.

Good luck convincing anybody with brains and something more than a single-digit IQ.

  • ljwalker

If you accuse Jonathon for misogynistic Hillary hating blatancy, can we accuse of being a blatant racist? All his laundry has been hung out to dry too.

  • ad-hominem

and oh, ljwalker, Hillary used this word "ad-hominem" today several times. Are you taking that cue from her? I guess, just like us Obamaites who are mindless trolls, you too are slowly byt surely being brainwashed. What have we turned into?

  • Learn to read, ljwalker53

I don't endorse any of those assertions. I'm just telling you what's coming, based mostly on a quick check of right wing anti-Hillary websites. You have a problem with those guys, not me...

  • @ljwalker53

Do you actually not see that what you are doing is the same thing the Republicans did to the Clintons? While there is no hint or even suggestion of impropriety, you continue to demand answers. To what? Senator Obama has answered questions about his relationship to Rezko, and to eliminate even the appearance of wrongdoing he has donated the contributions, not only from Rezko but from Rezko's associates, to charity.

It's amazing to me that someone who endured the entire unfair nonsense that was Whitewater would now choose to try to take down her politcal opponent by hitting him over a land-deal that has even less meat than the ones the Republicans tried to sully her with. And she's comparing him to Ken Starr?

  • @jabari

    You said:

"My point is that Mr. conason has a professional obligation to report the facts. If Greenwald can do it, and do it consistently and well, why can't he?"

Are you some sort of sitdown comedian?

  • LOL . . .

The Clintons have made about $30 million in the post presidency years. I think it's safe to say that there is probably a lot more smoke being generated from the Clinton campaign's own fire.

The Harvard Law grads the Obamas meanwhile have amassed a "massive" fortune in recent years between $800,000 and $1.4 million -- that's poor by presidential standards. Had Obama opted for maximizing his net-worth rather than getting involved in public service -- it's not out of the question that someone with his profile would have generated a nice $10 million nest egg at this stage in his professional career. Pretty small peanuts that we're talking about.

Maybe the Clintons should release a joint-tax return and we can start talking about transparency. Never mind HRC's own windfall from cattle futures. While no impropriety was demonstrated, it doesn't take a genius . . .

  • To AKA Smith

I hope you will not leave. I have gotten very good at skimming the first few words of a post and knowing which ones to skip. I can name most people's tunes in fewer than five words now. I can name manos', W.E.S.'s, maureenodonnell's and certain other posters' tunes without even reading a single word, in fact. So no, I didn't see the "violently" thing. But I respectfully, humbly, admiringly and extremely adverbially implore you to stick around. I think this time is just a lull in the news cycle, and people are uncomfortable with uncertainty and trying to push things in what they see as a favorable direction. It feels more ominous than anything else to me - because there are clouds on the horizon, and surely something big is going to happen, and no one knows yet what it is - but whatever does happen, I will come back to read what you and Juliebird and Slackie and even Xrandadu, who has mellowed and grown on me, write about it. Thanks for being here.

  • @ Jabari: Half-truths and Spin

I do care, however, that Senator Clinton couldn't be bothered to stay in town on the day of the "Potomac Primary" long enough to vote one the FISA reauthorization and and telecom immunity deal.
So, why don't you return the favor? Why aren't you excersised about your candidates refusal to, you know, do her job, or to make clear through an actual vote whether or not she believes that AT&T can break federal law in assisting the Bush administration in spying on you, and get away with it scott-free?

First, both candidates missed the FISA Reauthorization vote. Here is the link:

Second, on the so-called immunity amendment, Clinton did not vote. However, the amendment failed, so it's rather a moot point, considering it was defeated 31-67.

It would be nice if the information you -- and other Obama followers -- put out was accurate and complete, instead of half-truths.

AKASmith has been off her meds for more than a month, and her malignant mania has nearly outreached the swollen enormity of her nearly insane and overgrown egotism. She does not eat and will not sleep, until Barack Obama's broken and bloody body is delivered to her in a wretched heap. The woman is quite simply mad.
