McCain is a politcian. Politician=Phony
Of course he's a phony. During his last run for the white house, he claimed he'd out pork hungry senators. Then on the floor of the senate, his fellow senators stood ready with a list of his pork. He decided not to name names. His whole racket after the Keating 5 scandal was to portray himself as humbled and dedicated to being a reformer. Notice how that worked out.

Joe
I am not a republican, nor a McCain supporter, I am just tired of a press that tries to manipulate an election instead of actually giving us facts and letting us intellegently with the facts make up our on minds. When it comes to the fcc of 9 years ago, Mr Podesta, clearly not a McCain supporter has stated that he ask Mr McCain to contact the fcc concerning his client, who was having financial problems and was a public broadcasting network, but Mr McCain did not do what was requested, and the deal that this article is about fell through. I have not had time to research the cruise line business, but I will. Bernanke if you "cannot recall the newspaper of record publishing a sleazy story ever before" then you were not reading the times in the 90's. Not a slimy sex story but equally as slanted was their stories before the Irag war. Hic3333= as I stated before the FBI "who are charged with investigating under oath lies by public officials" told me that it is not against the law unless done for monetary purposes, and will not even investigate unless proof of that is given to them. also: It is not outrage about" having an affair " by democrats, it is the hypocracy. When you have right wingers like Bay Buchanan making statements that the republicans have standards and they don't put up with this kind of behavior from their candidates.after covering for multiple republican office holders who have "misbehaved" in this manner.

Don't forget this one
Hey folks, don't forget that John McCain voted to convict Bill Clinton of the BJ charges in the impeachment. How many of those so called moral, outraged republicans have now turned out to be big cheaters too? Even the guys like Henry Hyde that were running the impeachment were doing the same thing. Republicans = Hypocritical Fake Christians. Next time you hear a republican saying he thinks a democrat is guilty of something, start digging into the republican's private life. It is like they are publicly confessing by accusing a democrat. They are simply aweful people.

senatorial misdeeds
While the WSJ appears to have ignored this McCain story in their news yesterday after it broke, they ran a story on Trent Lott that I haven't seen anyone else pick up; any comments about that story?

Macs a Fraud
His entire staff is lobbyists. He wont take a direct airline flight home because he made those direct flights available and that would be unfair. But he will take a private jet with a comely lobbyist to private a soiree stocked with industry giants.
The fact is he is a liar and fraud. Combine that with anger management issues and a childlike stubbornness and you have a man unfit for the presidency.

Who is actually behind this
Does it occur to anyone else that this has Karl Rove's fingerprints all over it? I listened to Rush yesterday as this was unfolding and he could barely contain his glee. It would be absolutely no surprise to me to see McCain being forced out of the race to make room for the "suspended" (interesting choice of words) Romney campaign, or, even worse, a "savior" campaign on the part of Newt Gingrich or, puke, Jeb Bush.
I guess we'll see what develops in the next month or so.
If the Dems were behind this they would have waited until September. This was designed to get McCain out of the "true conservatives" way in time for one of their annointed to run. They've never cared much for electoral politics anyway

Bernancke has a short, or selective, memory
The merits of the story reside in the reputation as the "straight-talker" that McCain has so insiduously cultivated. His self-proclaimed status as a "maverick" is called into question if it is revealed that he's a tool, as are most of our elected officials, of big money as represented by big lobbying. The lurid details of sexual transiency and casual morality while superficially enticing, are only pertinent to Democrats, it seems. McCain's campaign is based on his "straight talk." If that talk curves around situational ethics as evidenced in legislative sponsorship, that's worth knowing.
Bernancke has apparently forgotten the multi-million dollar, publicly funded witch hunts of the 1990s that hiunded Democrats and produced great sound and fury but signified nothing.

Let's make a list of republican scandals
Here's a fun game. Let's put together a list of all the scandals that the morally pure republicans have been caught at recently. Remember these are the God loving Christians that only want what is best for America, which of course means punishing Gays, ginning up wars to kill muslims, giving rich people more tax breaks, and cramming their morality into our lives one way or another.
1. Florida's own Foley Fantasy. The congressman that was trying to bang young, male interns and the coverup that went way up the ladder, including Speaker Dennis Hastert and RCCC Chairman Tom Reynolds.
2. Tom Delay and the offensive slavery and forced abortions in Saipan, so his rich buddies could put the Made in America label on clothes made there.
3. Tom Delay and the Texas redistricting scandal.
4. Tom Delay and his buddies Jack Abramoff and Tom Scanlon and their screwing of the Indian tribes to get their gaming money.
5. Ohio Congressman Bob Ney taking bribes and getting locked up. He was just let out and put in a halfway house yesterday.
6. California Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham. More bribes than you can shake a sailboat at. Currently in prison.
7. Idaho Senator Larry "Wide Stance" Craig. Conservative, anti gay, sanctity of marriage, moral guy caught in the bathroom at the airport in Minneapolis trolling for gay sex...oops.
8. US Attorney firings. New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici doesn't like the guy that Tom Cruise played in A Few Good Men.
9. Newt Gingrich divorcing his second wife while she was in the hospital with cancer, to be with the woman he was cheating with.
10. John McCain and his blonde bimbo lobbyist problem.
There are so many more. I would encourage everyone to add there favorite republican scandal to this list. Once it gets to about 50, then forward it to the Clinton and Obama campaigns to see if they can do anything with it.
