McCain: Reformer or phony?

McCain's alleged affair with a lobbyist isn't a big deal. What matter more are his ties to special interests, like her clients in the cruise ship industry.

    Hypocrisy

At one time it was understood that presidents and candidates were not saints, and not much different than any other collection of humans that were playing drop–the-hanky or drop-the-soap as long as their actions didn’t result in heinous crimes like murder. The Republican right and the right-wing Christian community threw open the barn doors on all kinds of gossip, insinuations and *sins* by public people that never should have seen the light of day. Now it’s all coming back to haunt them. The Bible-thumpers have sown seeds that will prevent any except archangels from running for office in the United States. It’s a foolish gambit and impractical. Some of our most beloved public figures were caught with their flies open or their skirts raised. The ironic thing that strikes my fancy is that so many leaders now claiming to be for wholesome ideals have been caught in back alleys with their pants down and lots of money on the deck.
