The Company You Keep...
says a great deal about your character.
Regardless of whether or not Huckabee has openly allied himself with these nutcases doesn't matter, the fact that he has forged such strong personal ties with them over the years proves that he at least holds some- if not all- of their views on how this country should be run.
The fact that this man is running for the office of President of the United States is unbelievable. This nation holds in its founding documents that all citizens are granted liberty, and the right to practice (or NOT practice) any religion they choose. That a man with Huckabee's views and pronouncements would even entertain the idea of running for President shows how little he understands the nature of that position- and how fundamentally wrong it would be for a man so biased to be President.
These men and their organizations are frighteningly reactionary and violent: "It is dominion we are after. Not just a voice ... not just influence ... not just equal time. It is dominion we are after." - Just as Jesus would have wanted, right? Actually- quite the opposite.
These sentiments and individuals would be bizarre fringe groups at best in a normally funcitoning society. That they could gain attention- and especially the attention of a Presidential candidate- proves how vigilant we must always be to ensure that our rights and liberties are protected.

Does he still believe this sh--?
You know he does - god's standards don't change, why should Huckabee's? And, only HE and his cronies KNOW the true and correct god stuff.
How do these organizations qualify as religions, when they are heavily involved in politics? Bet none of them pay taxes; but they are entitled to receive money from the state? When did that become legal?-And is it?

@ Portlander and Anyone Else Passing By.....
"Somewhere else
I own a nice, little cottage in SW France. Before she died a few weeks ago, my wife and I vacationed there 2-3 times per year. I never expected it to become my permanent residence, but I am going to hang on to it just in case.
-- Portlander"
Dear Portlander:
My condolences regarding the loss of your wife. But let's cut right to it, shall we? I'm a pretty, 50 something writer who is in the process of checking out "other" places to dwell. Are you open to having a roomie? I'll admit I do bring a little baggage with me: a dog, 2 cats and an African Gray Parrot (he's very amusing...says, "Hello!, What are you doing?, Come on!"). I'll only "cook" if I'm in the mood, my house cleaning skills are half-assed. I do love to garden!! I hope there's a nice place to swim, hike and bike ride! But you'll have to keep it kinda quiet since I spend most of my time reading and writing. (BTW, Greece has been listed as the country that has the most personal freedom and least spying on people than any other country on Earth...just a thought, Portlander).
But on to the topic at hand....
Mike Huckabee, and all the other candidates, (except Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich) seem to have forgotten the oath they seem to be dying to take January of 2009:
Each president recites the following oath, in accordance with Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
How can Mike Huckabee swear to PRESERVE the Constitution when all he really wants to do is CHANGE it?! With his hand on the freakin' Bible and with "God" and the whole wide world there witnessing it??!
Of course, I suppose it could be argued that George W. Bush and Richard Cheney took the same oath and look what they've done?! Along with the entire Congress! The Patriot Act, The Military Commissions Act and now The Stifling of Dissent Act of 2008 (SB 1959) that should be flying through the Senate next week. Bye-bye Internet. (Obama is on the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Anybody think he's going to rush back for the hearings to fight for the Constitution? Ha!!!!!!!!)
And if you haven't seen "Zeitgeist" yet, here's the link:

Make yourself a tall drink and get ready for one doozie of a film! Actually it would be fun to tie Mike Huckabee to a chair and make him watch this, and film his reactions. OMG!!! Too much!
And as a parting shot, here's another little clip I found to brighten everyone's day:

But seriously folks...don't you just love the thought of having Mike Huckabee and his fat f'ck son in The White House for four years? You know, the son who thought it would be fun to take a sick and dying dog and hang it from a tree when away at camp? Just makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over doesn't it? Especially knowing his preacher father "pulled some strings" to make any prosecution "go away".

Extremism in the name of Religion is no Vice
If in the unlikely event Huckabee gets the nomination (I can't believe I'm saying this, but some strange things have happened lately) he is going to be red meat for the Dems, the media, and the blogosphere. With all the crazy positions this guy has on taxes, the Constitution and religion, it's no wonder the Republican machine (i.e. Fox News, CNN)is frightened out of it's wits of this guy. The next political contribution I make might just be to Focus on the Family!

Why is it...
...that the meme of "hell yeah i'm up and moving to canada/france" continues to survive?
I say put up or shut up. It really speaks as to what sort of person you are when your response to a system that does not immediately favor you is to pack up and leave. If only Lincoln and the Union had done so, right? And how about MLK and every other citizen helping the civil rights movement? Wouldn't they all have been better off if they'd just moved to Canada?
Thanks for the help!
