Mike Huckabee's affinity for religious extremism is no secret. But is biblical law at the heart of his presidential vision?

  • Fuckabee

I am thrilled with Fuckabee and the current level of support he is getting - it should be a huge, desperately needed wake up call to everyone: democrats, republicans, independents, and anyone who supports our constitution and science. Let everyone see how dangerous and POSSIBLE theocracy in america is and the effects of "christian" bullying in the political arena has become. Starting with Reagan, then George W., and now the likes of Huckabee are serious candidtaes. It is a slippery slope, and if you don't stand up and fight it, these fundamentalists will run over any rights they can.

  • holy constitution

Mr. Conason shouldn't get too excited by Huckster Huckabee's religious zealotry as a threat to the constitution if he should unexpectedly become President.

I suspect Rev. Huckabee is merely following in the footsteps of a number of black ministers who became civil rights activists and their ministerial personas became in fact mere adjuncts to the political activitities wich became thier real "religion".

Huckabee has shown remarkable chamelon tazlents on immigration and other issues on the campaign trail. In fact, I think it is safe to say his record is one of fairly liberal views on immigration, race, governmental powers, and an affinity for corporations. That is probably how he would govern, and among the reasons a conservative opulist like myself could never vote for him. He will pretty much say anthing to get elected--and stay elected.

  • My way or the highway

    Jesus, meet Muhammad

  • He may not think the Book of Job is in the New Testament

But I wonder how Huckabee interprets Jesus's admonition to "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's." Jesus eluded the question that was meant to trap him by implying that the two realms are separate enough to honor both. I doubt Huckabee can be so sharp, without alienating his True Believer base. We need some good Pharisee reporters to pin him down and see how much he'll wriggle.

  • The Ultimate Christian Test!!

Now that some Republican presidential candidates are wearing their Christian faith on their sleeves, I think it relevant more than ever for these candidates to answer the ultimate Christian test. We all know the Clinton's are evil and no doubt destined for Hell! They lied and selfishly profited, and we all know about "Bubba's" infidelity. What I'd like to know, and maybe Huckabee could answer this, will Cheney and bush find peace and salvation in the Kingdom of Heaven? After all, their deceit, incompetent and corrupt governance has lead to a needless war and the deaths of 10's of thousands of innocent people. I haven't heard a Christian yet try to answer that one. That question should be asked to all Republican candidates, major religious leaders, along with Cheney and bush, themselves. I know the argument about forgiveness and redemption, but doesn't Christ also weigh the scope of someone's sin? Cheney and bush's sins rival those of Milosevec; I wonder where he ended-up or is this Heaven and Hell thing just a myth? And don't give me that crap that Jesus was too smart to be a politician line; this question should have a serious answer. Maybe Huckabee, Romney, McCain, even Rudy and others will shed some light on this very important question.

  • What Really Matters

The best outcome of the Election will be the further erosion of Republican influence via a Democratic Administration and Congress.

Huckabee will assist with this to a great extent. To this end, the Dems must effectively inform voters of the dangers to our freedom and sanity presented by all of the Republican contenders.

I will grant Fred Thompson one thing, however, as he advocates health care availability for everyone. He is the only Republican stating this.

  • Another campaign of family values!

I do believe Bush won two elections(electoral colleges) with his family values lies. This guy is the taking the same path. What seems abnormal and scary to the left is actually rational and normal to the right. We had better make sure the demos win this election and every single vote counted correctly or we will be faced with another nut case bootlicking corporate fake religious lacky running the show and embarrasing us in the world{s eyes again and ruining the country.

I respect religous folks that are not molesting me with their views, and I respect gay people that respect my space, but I would never respect this guy as it seems he wants to force his religion down my throat. I do not want to be a Christian anymore than I do a Buddist or Moslem and I believe the constitution speaks for me on this issue.

  • Get Your Booty On Now, While You Still Can

The great thing about the freakazoids is that civil disobedience against this bunch means indulging every vice you can imagine, plus at least three more somebody has to explain to you.

If you can't draw a big enough audience doing it in the street, be sure to get it on tape and upload it to YouTube immediately.

We are a sinful, sinful, sinful nation and we are in your face, freakazoids.

As someone advised after the 2004 election catastrophe, now's the time to get that abortion you've always wanted.

  • Oh yes, let's have a bible-run country

Let's start by putting the emphasis on the 10 commandments:

First we need a radical overhaul of the law based on the 10 commandments:

1 Worship only God, no one but God

2 Don't make or worship graven images

    3 Don't take God's name in vain.

4 Keep the Sabbath day holy

One through four. The most important precepts. That's of course what we should focus on. And of course, the bible helpfully tell us how to implement this new focus:

Deuteronomy 13:6 -- If you hear in one of your cities that some people have enticed the inhabitants of the city to serve other gods, if you find it to be true, you shall put the inhabitants of the city to the sword and destroy it utterly.

I guess that means the end of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Oh, well. God's work is God's work.

So, rooting out heresy is the number one focus. The next focus of the ten commandments tell us how to run our fellow citizens' lives:

5 Honor thy mother and father.

    7 Don't commit adultery

9 You shall not bear false witness

10 Don't covet your neighbors wife or possessions

I'd really like a job with the thought police rooting out criminals like Jimmy Carter who have lusted in their hearts.

Last, and obviously least, deals with some of the stuff of US law:

6 You shall not commit murder

    8 You shall not steal

Yep, I'll be voting for the Huckster!
