I don't understand.
I don't uderstand the uproar over Giuliani's comments. I don't see how his comments are any different from common Democrat complaints about "if Republicans win we'll go back to the days of back alley abortions." Or predictions of the loss of the "Social Security Trustfund" if Republicans win. Or, in fact any campaign promise from any candidate. They all say some form of "If you elect me, your life will be great, vote for the other guy, and you'll have to work four jobs just to pay for groceries."

Giuliani reminds me of Nixon
There's some about Rudy Giuliani that reminds me of Richard Nixon. Yes they both have a ferret like demeanor and seem shady but I think it's the shared pettiness, paranoia and vindictive personality. And yet by today's standard's, Nixon is a freakin' moderate, checked in large part by a Democratic congress.
Now imagine Nixon in today's neo-fascist era -- not a pretty thought and yet Rudy G would be 10x worse. The difference? Nixon was a sleazy politician, and Rudy G a sleazy dictator.

Remember Guiliani Time?
Remember the times when NYPD Blues (not the TV show) crowed "Guiliani Time" as they ruthlessly beat young African American males and jammed plungers up their rectums because Guiliani was mayor and they would be protected no matter how morally flagrant their punishment was and unprobable the cause. I shudder to think that Rudy, the abusive husband and father, and the self righteous cleaner of street thuggery, is now trying to thung the nation into believing that 9/11 could happen again if he is not on the watch. He is a man of no principles. His blind ambition aided and abeted by the unscrupulous right wing in this sorry coutry, may get him elected. And this will only be a continuation of the far right agenda which has been in place for the last 30 years. This time, prepare for an end to democratic rule. I would argue that democracy ended when Bush got elected the first time around.

Giuliani's litany of lies
It used to be the mainstream media's (and by extension, the GOP's) mantra of contempt for Al Gore: "He'll say anything to get elected." Meanwhile, Giuliani has demonstrated that he'll bend and twist the events of 9/11 into any fantasy he chooses, and he skates away unscathed. Here's what he said at the Republican National Convention in 2004:
"...as we stood on the pavement watching a cloud come through the cavernous streets of lower Manhattan... I grabbed the arm of then Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik and I said to him, 'Bernie, thank God George Bush is our President.'”
And here's what he told Frank Lalli at Reader's Digest in an interview published in July 2002:
RD: Did you ever think you were facing something you couldn't beat?
Giuliani: Yes, on September 11. What ignited that feeling was seeing a man jump from Tower One. An aide said people were jumping, but my mind rejected it. Then, as I walked closer to the towers, a police officer told me to look up, keep looking up, so nothing would hit us. Suddenly, I see a man hurl himself from above the 100th floor and come flying down. I followed that from beginning to end. And I grabbed Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik's arm and said, "We're in uncharted territory. We're going to have to invent a way to get through this."
When will this twisted husk of a man be exposed for the sociopath he truly is?

Rudy's Fantasy
This is the only tactic Rudy believes will align him with the Republican majority. His only problem is that they have and never will regard him as one of their own.
He has no shot of getting the nomination of his party. So let's have a little message to him:
WWWAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

@ Jason418
Except that when we elect republicans, we DO have to work 4 jobs to buy groceries. And if we want gasoline with that? Add an extra 2.

pre 9/11 not so bad if you take Bush out of the equation
“We will wave the white flag on Iraq. We will cut back on the Patriot Act, electronic surveillance, interrogation, and we will be back to our pre-Sept. 11 attitude of defense.”
I'll ignore the white flag/PATRIOT Act stuff so I don't go off on an indignant, long-winded screed, and stick to my main point:
If, by pre-9/11, he means going back to the Clinton/Clarke approach as Mr. Conason describes, I kind of don’t have a problem with that.
It certainly worked better than ignoring that "system is blinking red" assessment by Tenet, and the infamous August 6th PDB who's title should be etched on Bush's tombstone when he finally shuffles off this mortal coil.
I feel like I've witnessed an astounding thing under this guy. Namely the fabrication of Presidential heroism out of nothing less than criminal negligence.
As they say, the bigger the lie, I suppose. I digress, I digress...
But why anyone is even paying attention to Giuliani as a presidential contender is beyond me at this point, and I live in New York and was here on 9/11 and remember how we really did rally behind the guy, whether we liked him or not. But that’s a much different situation than running an entire Constitutional democracy for at least four years. We can debate about whether he legitimately deserved his adulation or not, but it’s clear he’s not presidential material if he’s still using the current backbirth’s playbook. About 70% of us can see that more of the same is not going to improve the situation for anyone. I couldn’t possibly think of a clearer example of irrelevance.
What color rug do you think he’d have though?

Jedimaster!
Hey, I think you just converted me to the Democrat party! Gasoline is going to be cheaper under the Democrats?

Giuliani and McCain
Listening to Mr. Giuliani and also Senator McCain reminds me of 2 people who know nothing. I appreciate what they both have done and endured but neither or them is a viable Presidental candidate in my book. If you Republicans are looking for any across the fence votes you had best find someone else.

Why must we suffer to listen to this?
Europe has a law against Holocaust deniers. There is a reason for this, not being the past, but the fear of the threats posed by another ugly future.
Why can't we have the same law for GOP scumdogs like that neoNazi Guiliani and his ilk accusing Dems of allowing the slaughter of Amrecans or being Al Quaida sympathizers. The past may prove this a complete lie, but it is the future, if this lie was believed that is the real threat.
