Time to Impeach Gonzales
If it can be shown that A.G. Gonzales conspired with the Senate Judiciary Counsel to thwart the Senate's review of federal prosecutor appointments, then the A.G. should be impeached and removed from his office. The Attorney General is sworn to uphold the Constitution, not to conspire to undermine it. He has shown little respect for the Constitution or the legislative branch of government. It is time to show him the limits of his authority.

Nice, as far as it goes
Joe Conason's article about the firing and replacing of these prosecutors is good as far as it goes, especially pointing out that a Republican opposition research hack as prosecutor in Arkansas could be to dig up dirt on Hillary Clinton.
But beyond the agglomeration of executive power and keeping the hounds at bay in corruption investigations like Carol Lam's, there is the issue of indictment of Bush Administration officials themselves. 19 of them, including Gonzales, Rumsfeld, Cambone, and others, are under indictment in Germany for war crimes. With a Democratic Congress that has several senators and congressmen doing investigations, there may be more charges along the way, serious ones. And there is the issue that anyone charged with an international criminal offense is supposed to go on Interpol and the U.S. is supposed to cooperate on at least arresting such a person and negotiating terms for extradition.
Gonzales, and others for that matter, may be also trying to save their own necks.

So, now what?
Salon.com is the first site I go to in the morning and the last place I check at night. At my lap top on the couch or in my cublicle at work, I have been made aware of the (understatement) corruption (understatement) depravity (understatement) treasoness behavior of this administration, but what have I done? Really done?
I have expressed and felt outrage, but have not translated that into action.
I have, like many, make sure to be fully checked in to the reality of what's going on--no matter how depressing it is. News radio in the morning. Papers and webnews first thing at work. olbermann at 9, and even scarborough right after.
Those like I have for too long contented ourselves by believing and writing and blogging and saying amongst and to ourselves that: yes, bush et al = *something bad,* but at least we *know* that he is. The establishment hasn't been able to pull the wool over our eyes; we're fully aware of what's going on and we'll continue to keep our tally and remind the world every so often.
I don't know. I read this article here by Joe and all I can say is : so, what now?
Why aren't *we* doing anything? When will our awareness of the problem turn into action, turn into something more than a laugh track on late-night? turn into something more than a well-written article like this here followed by posts agreeing that yes, this is indeed an unprecedented breach of the fundamental values that... you know what i'm getting at.
So what are we going to do about it? Who is going to stand up? How and when are we going to take these collective objections out of the abstract and into reality?
Someone tell me: What is there to do? Who is going to do it? How shall it be done?

What to do, what to say?
It stinks.
The person who wrote that Gonzalez should be impeached and removed from office, got it on the money.
The one who said (in effect) "now what? (What can we do? Why isn't someone reacting to this horror show?)" is also on the money.
I think any d.a. worth his/her salt might openly wonder why a non-elected aide is, without the knowledge of the Senator, sneaking wording into proposed laws that no one has intentions of reading. There has to be a dandy career-ending felony or two in there, and a law professor's head would be a nice thing for a d.a. to have mounted on his/her wall.
And we send Gonzalez to Germany for a long rest.
(Anyone care to invoke the RICO Act and start sniffing even more at Cheney, Rumseld, and the neo-cons?)

And we only know 10% of the story.
Amazing. Keep in mind that the crazies running this country have an agenda and aren't just finding jobs for their buddies.
We are so powerless to do a darn thing and I tell you, what humanity needs is the Neurological Observing LED Implant Electrode (NOLIE) attached directly to the forehead so we can finally cut through the bull and know when someone is being deceptive. Everyone gets one, no exceptions.
Sadly, given the amount of social trust that has been destroyed by "power", recently and throughout time, I no longer consider the above a near Orwellian idea.
Best,
Joey

When Will Simba return?
We all know within ourselves what it will take to reestablish our democracy.
The question is, like Simba, do we have the courage, collective or otherwise to do so?
If we lack the courage to fight for our freedom, are we really entitle to it?
This is the basic premise that the Bush Admin. has operated on since 2000.
Perhaps we will finally understand the inner meaning of Richard Clark's book title " Against All Enemies" (did we note 11 in all, clever of him I thought) There is a positive to the Bush madness, it shines the light on us all. When we look in that still pool of water, what do we see America?

These guys are simple Bratocrats
It's all about the win, never about the day after.
It's perfect, only we have to pick up the empty beer bottles and used condoms and broken nations after the "team" is done with the victory party.
Please please please Democrats, STAND UP TO THESE BULLIES. Even if it means your careers flame out. Go out in glory. We will repay you tenfold if you JUST DO IT.
Save our nation from the Bratocracy.

Head story in the nightly news shows
This article should be front page in all our newspapers and the lead story on all our television news shows. (Give poor sad tragic Anna Nicole a break.) The Democrats must go after Gonzalez and the guy who sneaked the legislation in when nobody was looking and all the guys who voted for this before they'd read every word. The Democrats better move on this and fast.
