Bullet-proof politics
Republicans have been able to count on the support of the professional millitary for over a generation, even more so than that of fundamentalist Christians. All that the soldier in combat asked of this Republican Congress in exchange for his continued support was to make sure that he was supplied with the best equipment, training and support. These vets have made the most damning indictment of this Republican congress. These Republicans are too inept, too corrupted by pork barrel opportunities, and have wasted too much of this congressional session on frivolous legislation to hold on to even this most "semper fidalis" constituency.
