    I don't mean to sound conspiracy-adled here...

But wouldn't it have been a good move for some Bush lacky to take the original memos, retype them word for word on a newer typewriter or word processor, mimeograph them (or whatever they called copying in the 70s) to make them look authentic, and destroy the originals?

If they were "leaked" to a journalist then that news agency would be holding a time bomb -- the moment they make them public the proportional-type/superscript thingy would invalidate them and embarass the news aganecy. Of course, if the real documents ever popped up, people would say that someone just copied the "forged" documents using appropriate 70s technology.

The truth would become lies. Personally I hate these Bush crony M-Fers (as Bill O'Reilly would say), but if someone came up with this plan, I have to say they're effing brilliant.
