Bush and Cheney walk, too

Even as the president confesses that Scooter Libby engaged in a cover-up -- after all, that was the verdict -- he completes the ultimate obstruction of justice in the Plame affair.

speaking of cover-ups...

Partisan politics is a messy affair but people like Sydney Blumenthal make it even more messy. The truth is often stretched, facts are cherry picked and before you know what's happening history is being "created". The president's powers of executive privilege do not obstruct justice, they follow the rule of law. You may not agree with such law but you cannot ignore it's fundamental existence! Point number two: Joe Wilson's initial debriefing didn't challenge the Bush Administration's intel on the contention that Iraq was looking for a buy on yellow cake uranium. In fact such a suggestion couldn't be further from the truth. Joe Wilson has been a lap poodle for the anti-war left in this country for a long time. He's an opportunist of the first order and like his wife, the alleged, outed CIA operative, he will say and do anything that furthers his particular agenda at any given time. He's a fortune hunter, plain and simple. It's also helpful to someone like Wilson to have a cooperative media with a bias toward the president and those closest to him. Enter Sydney Blumenthal, Mr. Objective himself. Can we make any more of a mess out of this issue? Apparently Mr. Blumenthal would hope so. Thankfully there are more people who can see through this maze of horse poop then those who cannot. Time to wake up Mr. Blumenthal... we're not writing campaign speeches here. We're engaged in the truth, which is something that you seem to struggle with.

Don't look to Washington for decency

Do you really think the average American looks at Washington as some bastion of decency? So the Bushes and the Clintons are all above the laws us average schmucks have to follow, what else is new? The great thing is if you are a working guy who takes care of his family and if you keep your nose out of politics except to occasionaly write a letter of disgust like this one, America remains a pretty decent place to live. We could be living in Mexico where half their population gets by on $5 a day. You want to see some sick leadership, look to Latin America. I don't see how this pardon is any worse than say the Clinton pardon of Mark Rich.

What we don't know

Every now and then a chilling thought runs through my head, this has been going on for a couple of years and its becoming more frequent. Are these neo-con-victs amassing all of this executive power to quietly and politely hand over to a LIBERAL.

The stratedgy used by this bunch is to break the things and programs they want to get rid of or to privatize rather than face public wrath for just out and out abolishing Social Security, for example.

No Child Left Behind, FEMA, Social Security, Veterans benefits, our miltary etc. etc.- the answer to all of these 'problems' is privatization, big contracts to the Halliburtons of the neo-con world. I just read that Blackwater mercenaries now outnumber American troops in Iraq!

So, the neo-con-victs now have a private military while at the same time depleting our state nat'l guard units! I think God even threw a toronado at Kansas to point that out to us but evidently no one noticed!

This is starting to sound like a bad movie......God bless and save the American Middle Class, we are under attack and only time will tell to what extent and by whom.

OK---NOW can we impeach??

OK people...will this do it? Is this enough High Crime for us to get active and call/email demands for immediate impeachment of Cheney and the Shrub?

Just wondering...

Titus Hypocriticus

If you want a perfect example of the true hypocrisy on display on this thread, you only need to look at how deliberately, and yet how completely without self awareness, posters on the right like Titus are trying to debate. It's a matter of legal record now that Scooter Libby was found guilty of FOUR out five charges, one of which was Obstruction of Justice. Anyone of you can go and look at the original court records, and see this for yourselves... Go ahead Titus, honestly fill out all four convictions for us;

Scooter Libby was found Guilty of the following:

1.)

2.)

3.)

4.)

But have you noticed what the only conviction they will refer to is? I'll give you a clue. It begins with a "P". And here's where the spectacular irony and hypocrisy lies; it's the same thing they tried to impeach President Clinton over. CLINTON DID IT, remember Titus? Except now it's not worth troubling poor Scooter Libby over... Perjury simply isn't that much of a crime any more.

Shameless, totally totally shameless, isn't it? And yet they think you won't notice their incredible dishonesty if they just repeat the same claims over and over again.

Bush listened to his Higher Power - Cheney

It has become quite clear that Cheney is running this country not Bush. As you point out in this article Cheney abused his power and Bush cleaned up the situation. Clinton was almost impeached for what boils down to a sex addiction problem. He lied about it. What is worse, a human frailty and lying to cover it up or complete abuse of power? Cheney has completely ignored all checks and balances that were built into the government to stop people like him. It has gotten so bad, that I envision Bush with an earpiece that Cheney speaks into directing Bush as to what to do.

My concern and question is, what is to stop Cheney from wreaking more havoc before Bush's term ends?? They have used the press to start promoting Al Quaeda and Iran as the villian behind every conflict. First it was Iraq and Al Quaeda, now that we have created chaos in Iraq it is Iran and Al Quaeda so we can create chaos there.

I hope your next article focuses on how to oust Cheney or how to get Bush to find a different higher powerto listen to.....
