"I'm the decider"

Clinging to Rumsfeld as generals lead an unprecedented revolt, Bush reveals his weakness and his disdain for the lessons of history.

The letters thread is now closed.

He CAN'T fire Rumsfeld

Rumsfeld knows the truth about September 11th, and the billions of dollars worth of gold missing from the basement of the WTC.

Watch "Loose Change" at video.google.com. Some of it seems like BS to me, but check out the parts about Pentagon and the size of the hole and the missing debris. The part that convinced me that something was wrong was the speed of the collapse of the towers when they fell. They could not have fallen that fast without some kind of assistance. It is physically impossible.

Rumsfeld had to be in that up to his neck. Ain't no way he is leaving.

I'm the decider

Bush said:

"I hear the voices (a), and I read the front page (b), and I know the speculation. But I'm the decider(c), and I decide what is best. And what's best is for Don Rumsfeld to remain as the secretary of defense."

(a) would those voices be the ones in his head?

(b) Really? but the question would be; does he actually READY the articles?

(c)Wow, it sounds a lot like a dictator to me....I thought in this country the "diciders" were the people....guess THAT must happen in another kind of democracy.

No, he's not "the decider"

The reason Rumsfeld isn't going anywhere is because Rumsfeld is a founding member of the junta that uses Dumbya as their figurehead. The puppet can't dismiss the puppetmaster.

Of course Dumbya isn't "the decider". Is there anybody anywhere who still thinks Dumbya, who has failed at absolutely everything he has ever done in life, was ever in charge of anything having to do with the overthrow of democracy and the current occupation of the White House? If so, surely his use of kindergarten-level language to refer to himself and the office he illegally occupies and disgraces must give those people pause, at least.

He's an idiot. He's a figurehead. He's not in charge. Rumsfeld isn't going anywhere because Rumsfeld is one of the handful of people in this country who are calling the shots. And the question still remains: why are we letting them?

Rumsfeld's new Hairstyle

The first thing his PR staff told him was, "Rummy, you need to get a "Friends" haircut with the bangs forward and freshly cut to try to convince your audience that you are not the grim reaper."

Where does the buck stop, anyway?

Someone made this point posting a comment in War Room, and I've been thinking the same thing during this Rumsfeld controversy. Ultimately it George bush's responsibility and fault. I have a feeling Rumsfeld is being used as a lightening rod to deflect critical attention away from Bush and Cheney.

What would happen if "Don" resigned? Nothing would change. George Bush and Dick Cheney's war would procceed business as usual, but they wouldn't have the convenient sheild of the embattled and abrassive Rumsfeld. He's their sin eater, and he's not going anywhere.

I don't know if "Don" agreed to all of this or if he's been broadsided, but he's definitely being set up and groomed as the villain by the president and vice president to keep the stink of this catastrophy off of themselves.

George Bush is a coward. He sat for 8 minutes in a class room stunned like a deer in the headlights on 9/11 then hid. He strode onto the field to throw out the first pich surrounded by men in uniform to shield himself from boos. He's hiding behind his Secretary of Defence. I've said it before. He was pelted with eggs on the way in, and he'll be pelted with eggs on the way out.

Concentration Camps?

It's getting tough to know where reality ends and wacko conspiracy theory starts -- Progressive is reporting Halliburton is getting $385M to build domestic holding centers for illegal aliens.

"Military Intelligence"

I don't think that the military intelligentsia is much smarter than Bush: "Almost all these generals voted for George W. Bush in 2000 as a statement of conservatism; they never expected radicalism."

I'm refraining from using the word "Dumbass Motherfuckers" every time I hear about some bub from the heartland who couldn't just help himself from voting in the president who'll show "'em librul fags what not is real proper...", but I was hoping that West Point was graduating more than just stories about gang rape.

I guess not.

They got their war on, and now we're all going to pay for it, bunch of militards.

An article worth reading

RUMMY & THE GENERALS - DAVID VS. GOLIATH IN WASHINGTON is a well-thought-out article in today's NY Post; for anyone yet to see it, URL is:

http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/67207.htm

If anyone can post the info as to the revolving-door background alluded to in the article regarding pro-Rummy retirees I'd be interested in learning that info.

thx

Did Rumsfeld ever serve on active duty?

If so, where and when? The generals calling for Rumsfeld ouster did, however as the person speaheading the disaster such as Iraq turned out to be, does Rumsfeld has any real strategic ability or experience?

If so, or if not, he should be be facing a court-martial; his commander in thief should face impeachment.

Rummy's military experience

If memory serves, Rummy did one tour in the Air Force, during peacetime. Which, apart from Bush's unfinished stint in the Guard, is the sum total of the Bush cabal's military service.

Please tell me/us

Rumsfeld was a Vietnam-era Navy pilot.

He's still dropping bombs on people from far away.
