Nice!
What a great graphic!

Interesting
I'm not so sure that some of those questions would be asked that way (such as the use of the word "false Nigerian claims" - but the substance is there.
Cheney will be in a hard spot either way. If he buries Libbey, then he risks having Libbey turn on him and possibly Rove - and if that happens, especially in either 2006 or 2008 during an election year, it could hurt the Republicans hard.
On the either side, if he tries to protect Libbey, it will look like he's trying to manipulate the game. I'm not sure that the calls to Bush to not pardon Libbey will work - this administration has never stopped at doing whatever they think they can get away with, but I'm not sure the other Republicans who will be running for office want to see their party look even worse.
Either way, it should be interesting, and scores the major point that all politicians - from Reagen to Clinton to Bush and Cheney always seem to forget:
Telling the truth about something you did wrong gets you in far less trouble then lying about it - even if it wasn't that bad.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Cheney on Trial
Dick Cheney finally dragged into the light of day (via Libby's trial) to either incriminate himself directly or indirectly in this entire Plame scandal? Three words: Bring it on.
-
Cheney is ready for his Col. Jessep moment
Given the very thin line Cheney will have to walk in giving further testimony, I hope he'll be forced into a Col. Jessep moment, where he's backed himself into a corner and attacks with frothing mouth. Of course, that was just a movie...
Still, one can hope.

wishful thinking
You really expect a trial? The only question is when he gets the pardon. Cheney's Cheney is also Cheney's Weinberger.

The Cheney Trial Hypothesis
As usual Mr.Blumenthal is ahead of the game with his article. At first glance, this whole situation seems very reminiscent of the Iran-Contra affair. As I recall, the major players, who all had direct links to the nefarious group in the current administration, defended themselves publicly with the "I don't recall" responses. Reagan himself told such a story publicly, and in retrospect, his dementia makes that line somewhat plausible. But there is no dementia with Cheney, he is the scowling face of neo-conservative evil. Was it not Jesus who said "the truth shall set you free", come on Dick, break with your past and tell the truth for once.

I hope you are all correct...
The cynical side of me (which has been growing like a tumor since the 2000 election) is telling me that Cheney (and the rest of 'em) will somehow manage to get away with it all.
But there is another (much healthier) side of me that is quietly ecstatic about the possibility that real justice will fall upon the heads of these neo-cons. They have so severely destroyed the American reputation and killed thousands of people for their selfish purposes -- I sincerely hope all of you are correct in your predictions of justice.
It definitely wouldn't hurt if the press does their job and keeps the spotlight on the issue. I think the added attention will make them fumble it up. It's tough to weave webs of deception while everyone is watching intently.

Dream Interrogation
Mr. Blumenthal's imagined questioning of Cheney is a liberal's wet dream...not that I wouldn't like to have the dream. But it won't happen in the context of the Libby trial. Many of the questions address Cheney's role in disclosing Plame's identity, but the trial will be on the narrow issue of whether Libby lied. "Your Honor, I ask that counsel confine his questions to the matter at hand!" murmurs Libby's defense counsel.
Alas, Mr. Cheney will not be on trial...yet.

Scooter and a "speedy trial"
Scooter does not want a speedy trial.
He wants to drag this trial out until Jan 2009. That will keep the White House et al saying "we cannot comment on a case awaiting trial".
Then, with a nice pardon, he can reap the financial rewards of being a "frend of George" and a "friend of Dick" along with his crime-free record.
We need to all write our representatives in the Congress, both house and senate, and have them demand that Bush vow that he will not pardon anybody in his administration who is being investigated, prosecuted, or convicted of criminal wrong doing.
We need to have them follow this up by having these same House and Senate members push for a constitutional ammendment to limit the power of the president to pardon people who have worked for his administration either directly or indirectly.
We can then ask Bush if he wants to truly "restore dignity and honor to the White House" by supporting this ammendment.

Cheney on trial
There is no doubt in my mind that the vice president was at the core of this whole scandal. He is such a slimy person.

Cheney had motive.
The Plame outing is an effort to attack people who were calling into question the veracity of the yellowcake/aluminum tubes lies.
The FBI recently said as much when it concluded an assessment of the INTEL for the Iraq war.
Michael Sheldon Cheney was the first ever PR Director for ARAMCO. The Arabian-American Oil Company. The Cheney name is legendary for bringing together Western venture capital and Saud oil well leasing and mineral rights.
Doubtful this is just a coincidence.
ARAMCO was formed with Standard Petroleum of California and Arabian interests acting in concert, originally as a nonprofit umbrella.
So you have Standard of New Jersey(Exxon) and SOCAL/ARAMCO working in concert to set oil prices.
The Cheney name is not a coincidence in this matter. Dick Cheney always had this kind of backing in Houston, it's why he acts with hubris, they always worked with top-down authority and a lack of transparency, especially helping despots drill oil.
Condi Rice and Cheney were the shot callers, Bush was the mouthpiece, a complicit face for the front.
Bush can't pardon people he named. The two Senior officials named are going to be Cheney and Rice, although in reality it was Bush and Cheney. Cheney got Bush in on it for cover and leverage, Bush for braggadocio with his false bravado fake cowboy act.
The proof is in the Energy task Force documents. The White House has something to hide and the media knew this fact for a long time. There's a Nuremberg precedent for journalists to face as well.
Fitzgerald is already on Novak's boss the paper mogul Mr.Black in exile who awaits Extradition notice in Canada.
Payola leads here. Franklin leads here. Plame outing leads here. Curveball leads here. Italy/Niger forgery leads here. Downing memos lead here. Oil for Food leads here. Nuclear proliferation via Halliburton/Rand leads here. INC/Chalabi leads here. The AQ Khan contacts/encryption compromise leads here. The failed Atta-linked Mzoudi trial in Germany leads here.
The OSP and various emplanted media sources all converge.
Republicans will run as the RICO party for this next election cycle.
