More than dissent?

I hope few have seen and heard the kind of drivel I've discovered around and about since yesterday. More than a few diapered Americans still harbor a good deal of prejudice and openly debase the new President and his stance on practically everything. I am appalled at the derision, cynicism, and stereotyping. I've seen and heard. I fear it's more than just sore losers. What did you think, the party could go on forever? You're peeved because now comes the reckoning? People think they can get away with something and don't care, IF they believe no one else cares or is watching. Joe the American has brought down his house upon himself, and a pox be on it. If you cannot march, then move to Switzerland. Better yet, Zimbabwe. You think WE've got a problem!

obama flow

Here is a different way to experience the Inaugural Address...as a flow:

It runs longer than the speech itself, but you see the whole thing newly.

The speech was excellent.

Get your health care at Walmart?

Sure, get it cheaper and quicker and then your real Doctors, pharmacies and hospitals will lose all that revenue and either have to charge more for stuff that Walmart can't do or go out of business.

How stupid do you have to be to want Walmart to be the primary health care provider in your town?

How stupid do you have to be to shop Walmart and have all of our manufacturing jobs and dollars go to China while our unemployment soars and economy tanks?

You have to be 'Merican Prole stupid.

Okay, the E man has ideas. Idiotic ones, but they are ideas...;)

"What we really need is not more people covered by health insurance. We need fewer people to be covered; people who can say, "I am paying these bills myself, and I don't think I need thaqt test, or I can get that test cheaper elsewhere,"

Um, on what planet is everyone so medically-expert they can second-guess their doctors as to what tests they need? Suppose what you have takes more than just one test to diagnose? (I had anemia last year, and it took a couple of tests and at least two specialists to figure out whether the cause was dietary or physical. Turned out to be physical.) And, yeah, when one gets cancer, that's the first thing one feels like doing--shopping around because the cancer will most certainly wait.

"...and I can get that drug at Wal-Mart for less money." That's the way to keep prices down."

You've never been ill in your life, have you? You've never ever had to deal with a relative slowly declining into dementia or one with a weak heart or anyone that requires the kind of constant care that is a full-time job all on its own. If you had, you wouldn't be spouting nonsense like this, because, trust me, the last thing one is worrying about in that kind of situation is price-hunting.

The Bottom Line ....

We cannot know yet what kind of job Obama will do .....

We can hope for the best and prepare for the worse (psychologically).

Anything is better than Bush and the neocons.

It remains to be seen whether Obama intends to make the necessary changes to save us from unprincipled capitalism and political and judicial corruption.

To do so he will have to take on the corporatocracy ...... the military-industrial group ...... the insurance companies ......... Wall Street ........ the pharmaceutical companies ....

the educational system is dysfunctional ...

The "paste" below is from an email I received ...... food for thought ..... but ultimately it is "wait and see" ...

___________________________________________________________

Paste:

"Well, Mr. Bush is back in Texas, and everyone is hoping for the best.

I'm among them...

But Brain People, don't get sucked in one way or another-- keep

yourself educated--

Today's inauguration was bankrolled basically by about 200 wealthy

individuals--mostly bankers who we've just saved with our tax dollars.

The people paying for all this-- are the same people who are asking

for funding by YOU AND ME to save their corrupt broke businesses.

It wasn't paid with by public dollars--- but a privately funded

affair- by people who will now be asking for favors...

And then

The party was the biggest Presidential bash in history--

What kind of health insurance do you have?

What's the state of the economy?

Ouch.

What kind of EXAMPLE is this?

This is a bad start if you ask me.

And then there is talk of expanding the war in Afganistan.

Then there is the silence as in the name of self defense over the

past couple of weeks, with US sponsored military might, 1300

Palistineans were killed, 1/3 of them children, most of them

civilians. Contrast this with 13 Israelis killed (and 4 of those

killed by 'friendly fire).

Yes, historic per the color of the man's skin, I think that's great

and says something about the nation and what we are capable of.

But keep your brain in gear-- and know what is real, and what is

just the same old line said by a brand new face."

Say what?

I think we could control costs better if people were alllowed to keep more of their money in the first place, and then used their own money to pay for healthcare.

Sure thing pachyderm! Even if there were no income tax at all, most people would STILL not be able to afford medical care for any serious condition. It would, of course, help if many prescription drugs were available without prescription as in many third world countries, but that will never happen here.

Still, I guess people can make economies with do-it-yourself abortions and neighborhood midwives delivering the babies.

Perhaps in your ideal world stock holders in drug companies will get large discounts on medications they need to stay alive, hence encouraging investment.

Seriously, though, Elephantman, do you know what happened to your close relations, the mammoths? Mostly they were hunted to extinction by lumbering into man-made pits filled with spiked staves. You, however, seem determined to dig your own holes.

@Confucius always say, you're an amusing dotard but I suppose you've been floating down the Yangtze-Kiang for some time now

You're an impertinent piece of china, all the same. "Get laid" is the Passive Voice, and, my old china, I'm not the passive type. This might shock you, as a simple maniac, but I'm a nymphomaniac who prowls the highways and byways like a ravening she-wolf seeking whom she might devour. I reject all scrawny types, those with blemished skin and, of course, any sign of dewlaps. That's you out of it but you could spend the evening chatting with your pals about Michelle's dress. Wasn't it oh, wasn't it ah, wasn't it absolutely fabulous! I bet you're going to crochet something like it.
