Holy fuck!

Did my ears actually hear what they heard?

Did Rod Blagojevich actually use

The fuck word?

Make no mistake about this, folks...

...as a long-time resident of Chicawgah, Ellenoise, I can assure you that the REAL target of Mr. Fitzgerald's crusade (a noble one, in my opinion) is Da Mayor, Richard M. Daley. No Democrat in this fair state jumps without some member of the Daley dynasty telling him/her "how high."

Please note that the Gov is married to a daughter of long-time "Machine" alderman/power player Richard Mell. She's made a few interesting headlines over the years by "dabbling" in selling high-end real estate that just happens to be owned by local VIP's.

Oh yeah, this is going to get REAL interesting...

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree

A few weeks ago a Senate Democratic aide and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) kicked off a campaign to publicly berate "the left" in the wake of the 2008 election. Now, here's a rant-ish "Message to Obama's Progressive Critics" from top Obama aide Steve Hildebrand

This is not a time for the left wing of our Party to draw conclusions about the Cabinet and White House appointments that President-Elect Obama is making. Some believe the appointments generally aren't progressive enough. The problems I mentioned above and the many I didn't, suggest that our President surround himself with the most qualified people to address these challenges. After all, he was elected to be the President of all the people - not just those on the left.

President Blagojevich?

I was shocked by a lot of what I read in this federal complaint, but the part that blew me away most is that Blagojevich wanted to lay groundwork for a Presidential bid in 2016.

Illinois Politics

It would seem that there will soon be a special wing at the state penitentiary for former/current governors.

It seems logical...

... that seats in the US Senate should be sold to the highest bidder. At least the process would be transparent and while it would not necessarily preclude nepotism, it would at least allow the nouveaux riches a shot at playing in the big game.

I feel your pain

As a resident of the great state of New Jersey, I feel for the Illini. Unfortunately we are used to this pay-for-play crap and take alot of abuse for it. You good citizens deserve better.

Pay or play

Poor Blagojevich. I guess he thought the Senate seat was the same as an ambassadorship. OUr government at work.

Can't wait for the movie

I see John Travolta as Blago.

Blago's self-aggrandizement is almost legendary. President? Of the United States? Really? With his crappy single-digit approval rating? The only reason he won in '06 was because, to quote someone I know who knows Judy Baar Topinka, "she's nuttier than a fruitcake and that's saying something in Illinois politics." But hey, at least she's not in jail.
