Sad. very troubled soul

But when does this madness cross the line into sedition, because it's obvious that she's inherently dangerous. I mean, if someone will go on the world stage and make these claims, what's next? Setting off a bomb?

She needs *some kind* of confinement.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 06:19 PM

Wow

Just wow.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 06:25 PM

Don't be a jerk.

Yes, she is a nutcase. And it is important to examine her bizarre arguments and take them down.

But mentioning her thick accent and her dropped articles is a cheap shot. There are billions of people who don't speak English at the native level, and more who don't speak it at all. This does not discredit their ideas.

How is your Russian? Are your views irrelevent because if you try to speak Russian you have a strong accent? Don't be a jerk. In America many people speak with a foreign accent. The only people who think that undermines their ideas are racists, nativists, or provincial and small-minded.

These people used be restricted to street corners

Now they're being interviewed by the mainstream media. WTF?

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 06:31 PM

She's not the lost Gabor sister...

She's Natasha, from "Rocky & Bullwinkle."

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 06:45 PM

Oy, Salon

So Salon hires someone who is actually connected to Taitz's husband to report on her? And then presents her clear manifestation of a psychosis as "genuine"? Journalism, we hardly knew ye!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 06:46 PM

Why are you doing this?

Publishing an article like this only gives credibility to this nutcase. What is your point? Why not interview a crazy on the streets of NYC and treat him/her as a political force to be dealt with? You are pandering for ratings. Shame on you.

Her Credentials

Given that Ms. Taitz's filings have been dismissed for technical reasons, before the substantive issues can even be considered, and given that she seems not to be dealing in actually selling real estate and given that her own teeth don't look all that good - shouldn't we ask to see her credentials before offering her any credibility that might accrue to the titles of "Dentist," "Attorney" or even "Real Estate Agent." I'd like to see the licenses, the long form, please.

Obvious paranoid

She is displaying paranoia. Why give this woman who has obvious mental health problems so much publicity.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:07 PM

McGee bet post yet

She's Natasha, from "Rocky & Bullwinkle."

-- McGee

love it. Your right on

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:13 PM

This woman refuses to doubt herself.

That alone, in the face of all the evidence against her, places me against her claims. At the very least she should acknowledge her detractors for her to come across as reasonable.

She is trying to bully her way into "truth". Sadly, she has no idea how truth is discovered.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:19 PM

Axis II, not Axis I

She isn't classically paranoid like a schizophrenic, though she is delusional. The paranoia has a purpose, which is not altogether tied to the promotion of her version of truth; it's not altruistic. Rather, the paranoia has a purpose of promoting herself as a functioning intellectual who is capable of hanging with the Joneses of the legal intellegensia. It's almost like a Paranoid Personality type or a Schizotypal Personality type.

I'd bet that she had horrific experiences as a young woman with abuses of power, just as Ayn Rand had horrible experiences with collective ownership. For Ms. Taitz, it's a developmental thing, not an acute exascerbation of delusional thinking.

I promise, this birther business is not her crowning achievement. She'll have a long and fruitful career in the lunatic fringe.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:22 PM

I think

she is Sacha Baron Cohen in a new disguise. Look at her--so much like Bruno it's uncanny. And then with the Borat accent. Everyone wondered what SBC was going to do after Bruno, well, here it is. And this is not only my idea--I saw it first on Salon. He is brilliant, isn't he?

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:33 PM

Thank god you give air time to lunatics.

Salon is part of the problem at this point.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:42 PM

Obama killed Vince Foster.

That's all I've got.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:44 PM

I am thouroughly confused

by the "barking Bessarabian goo" youtube link in the third paragraph. Why am I watching Melanie Griffith and James Woods dance to "Looking for a Fox?"

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:46 PM

Also...

...a broken link in the fourth paragraph

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 07:58 PM

Schizophrenic?

She sounds so much like my ex-husband who is schizophrenic.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 08:00 PM

As near as I can tell...

The Birther movements actually beginning to wane. Sure the sore losers will still reference it for the next couple years but I think the media's days of taking it seriously are done. They've moved on. Everything she's presented has long since been discredited and with the "town Hells" going on, it doens't seem likely the media will go back to it, especially if the riots last a while. I have to disagree with the poster who said she'll have along career as part of the lunatic fringe. I think her 15 minutes are about up. The right wing will find another, more credible, criticism of Obama. This one certainly didn't catch on as well as they would have liked.

Sounds like she'll spend the rest of her career, all three of them, fending off lawsuites from angry customers for sucking at all three of her jobs.

Fluoridation...........

(Nuff said - you get squirrel, I get moose.)

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 08:11 PM

I'm Lovin' It

Yes indeedy, I'm lovin' it when the Right comes on these letters columns and whines and complains that you're actually covering their members, actually telling America what the Right believes.

Because it reveals them to be crazy motherfuckers, and they can't stand that.

Keep it up, Salon!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 08:20 PM

If you only knew -

"She's not the lost Gabor sister...

She's Natasha, from "Rocky & Bullwinkle.""

If you only knew how many guys went to sleep thinking about Natasha.

No guys thought about the Gabor sisters. They were only worth a laugh.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 08:26 PM

The story needs an editor.

In the paragraph about Hugo Chavez:

He can do this because he owns Sequoia Voting Systems? Neither did I.

There seems to be a sentence missing.

A few paragraphs later:

She asks me, in one of many requests for a conference call with some relevant institution, "Would you be willing to have a conference call with Department of Justice, with Eric Holder?"

It is one of many requests that I join Taitz in making a conference call to some relevant institution.

Almost a whole sentence repeated.

Could somebody copy-edit this stuff before it gets posted?

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 08:43 PM

re: clearly it's not what you know

A Jew spouts incoherent innuendos and slurs and promotes discredited 'facts' against a Black official, but it's all good and important for the whole world to know about and for journalists to write about because she had ancestors who were killed during the holocaust. I think I finally understand how the media decide what's worthy of being reported!
