Since gays and lesbians can't say "I do," some churches are getting out of the marriage business

Diable4 -- thanks for making my argument for me, you pathetic creature

Because you so clearly have nothing to say in defense of your IDEAS or OPINIONS, but are obviously completely undone by everything I have said -- to such a degree, that you are virtually apoplectic with rage at ME PERSONALLY, as if I was the only person on earth who could possibly be in disagreement with you.

Do you vent this rage at the millions of California voters who voted first to ban gay marriage and then to pass Prop 8, sealing it forever in the State Constitution? NO! No, it's one woman in Cleveland (a city you despise, for reasons I know nothing about).

ONE WOMAN! Just me! holding back the entire tide of gay rights. I had no idea I was so remarkable -- but thanks!

Gay marriage is not a civil rights issue. Interracial marriage IS a civil rights issue -- because a man of any race, and a woman of any other race, have an equal right to marry as much as a white couple would have. In fact, Diable4, you have every right to marry -- a person of the opposite sex. But not any person, because you are forbidden to marry your parents, your siblings, your grandparents and in most places, your aunts & uncles, and a few places, your first cousins.

Probably you think it is a civil rights issue that you can't marry your parents. Or a small child, a dead body, or an animal, or ten other people at once (and I said POLYGAMOUS, not polyamorous). But I am so sure, Diable, if you rant on and call me a "stupid cow" and use vulgarities, your rights to do all these things will suddenly materialize.

It is quite unimportant, but I have actually lived in many other places in the United States, and traveled all over North America, and been to Europe and the Middle East. A couple years back, I was living in another state and another region of the US. However, my home is now in Cleveland. It's an interesting, ethnic city and on the banks of an extraordinary body of water (20% of all the fresh water in the world is in the Great Lakes), and has a world-class art museum, world-class orchestra and one of the top hospitals in the world. I also have a fairly large vintage home that cost about 1/10th what such a home would cost in one of the "twee hipster urban" areas you probably hail from. If that makes me a "stupid cow", then I am perfectly happy to moo away.

But bovine or not, I stick to what I said and what I said is correct and will be proven correct in the years to come. Your irrational anger and venom, and willingness to make personal attacks instead of VALID INTELLECTUAL POINTS is all the proof I need that your position is composed of A. self-interest and B. hot air.

Naturally I am relieved beyond all words that you have left Ohio. If you'd leave the USA entirely, that would be even better; taking your vicious, childish immaturity along with you.

Laurel

Argue all you want, you are a bigoted cow.

And I, too, am glad I left Ohio. Ignorant cunts like you were tiring to deal with.

You know, it's useless arguing about this with you. You belong to yesterday. Everyone knows it. You and your ilk are anchronisms. I just wish nature would hurry up and turn you into humus.

Personally, I am not terrified of you-you simply are the most obvious and vocal personification of bigotry on salon.com.

It tickles me to no end seeing you put so much time and energy into this massive screeds aimed at whomever disagrees with you. Nothing on Lifetime, I suppose.

Laurel, you will never get it. And all your attempted justifications end up doing is show you for the incurious, untraveled, bigoted cunt you are. I stand by my previous statement, you are the Cliff Claven of salon.com.

Fuck you.
