Al Franken takes his job very seriously

Being the 60th Democratic Senate vote is no joke. But can Franken guarantee Sotomayor vote or healthcare reform?

The letters thread is now closed.

terkoy on Ann Coulter

"She has no reason to lie"

Except, if she didn't , no one would buy her books.

terkoy

Ann's books are bestsellers for a reason: they are steeped in facts no sleazy liberal wants to own up to.

Name one.

Al Franken

I predicted as soon as the vote was in that the democrats would find a way to overturn the election. Remember how for eight years we heard about Bush and the Florida election. Notice how Salon and all the major news organizations never mention ACORN or the corruption involved. Its amazing how the far left can live with themselves when the leaders can't pay their income taxes or conform to the ethics expected of the common people. Lies, Lies and more lies, accusations, character assinations against anyone who disagrees with them so what were we to expect.

A foul mouthed entertainer with about as much experince to be a leader as Obama and Joe Biden. Oh Well, the country will wake up perhaps too late. We'll have our country so in debt, no one can bail us out! I feel especially for the younger generation whom the college professors so galanty convinced the young to vote for Obama.

@Youngservative

staggering unemployment rate, sky-high national debt

Sorry, your watch on these. And the 'stimulus' a huge contributing factor. Occurred right about the time that Fanny & Freddy's chickens came home to roost on Barney Fwanks gay whorehouse doorstep.

Do you ever read anything other than Ann Coulter's blog and The National Review, or watch anything other than O'Reilly?

Those of us paying attention predicted this market disaster long before it actually happened, including myself. I even predicted that you'd come along to blame it on the next president, who would undoubtedly be a Democrat. I'll wager you didn't know what a credit default swap was (if you even do now) until you were spoon-fed it from Rush Limbaugh.

the death of 3000 at the WTC

OK, we'll own that one if you own the economy tanking. After all, we all know Wall St. panicked (and for good precogniscent reason) when it became clear that jive turkey obama was going to win the election. Then when he did, things got worse not better. Bears came instead of Bulls. The market don't trust democrats, especially ones with Barry's roots.

Yeah, actually the market doesn't work that way. Without massive, intentional fraud, made possible by the repeal of the Glass-Steagall act, introduced into the Senate by your hero Mr. Phil Gramm, and passed by the Republican majority on a party-line vote of 54-44, the market would be fine today. The bill was signed by Clinton, it's true. However, it was the "deregulate everything" approach, so favored by your demagogues, that brought us down, and that attitude carried the day for 8 years thanks to your pal GW. This attitude is in fact still prevalent amongst your champions, as the way out of the gutter, proof that they have no workable ideas, and are just phoning it in.

I know a lot about the stock market. I worked for a trading company for 8 years. One thing I know for sure is that, given any small chink in the armor, traders will rip right through it. It wasn't a lesson we needed to learn, again, since we already learned it in 1933. But since you're just repeating facile talking points, I won't go into the history.

and the miserable failure of the Iraq war?

Perception my dear enemy, perception. Oil hegemony as a energy strategy is OK in my book, probably not in yours. Now that the war has been won, let the oil flow. However, all of you liberals will have a one dollar 'patriot tax' added to every gallon of gas you consume. Conservatives will continue to pay the market price.

You made me laugh again with the, "now that the war has been won," comment, thanks for that. It's not a matter of perception to the soldiers whose asses are still getting shot at. Do you know any? Ask them if they think the war is won.

Tell you what, I'll pay a dollar a gallon extra for gas as long as I get to charge you for the amount of oxygen you're wasting.

Youngservative is learning

That last post caught most wingnut talking points quite well.

Blame Barney Frank for the economic crisis, but make sure to say something nasty about his sexuality.

Forget what you said just moments ago and blame the economic crisis on the financial markets reacting to the election of Obama. Extra points if you can use a very outdated bit of slang that reminds us that you aren't very thrilled about his race.

And then bring it on home with a reminder that the war was really about oil, that oil is king in your eyes and that liberals can't possibly be patriotic.

I'm glad to see that you were taking notes during Rush's broadcast.

And speaking of Sotomayor....

Glen Beck had called her a Marxist and "not too bright".

From audio segment of Beck's show:

BECK: Marxism. It is Marxism. She is a Marxist…

How many Marxists do we have to turn up before we say our country is being taken over? This is a hostile takeover!

BECK: I think the woman is not so bright. From what I have heard from people who have worked around her, worked with her—

GUEST: That is definitely the vibe.

BECK: Yeah, she is not that bright, and she is a divisive individual

Jack Clark's comment on the Beck comments: This is radio and cable talk show host Glenn Beck. Beck has apparently applied his deep knowledge and finely honed analytical skills and determined that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is a Marxist, and not too bright a one at that.

Hmmm…

Certainly qualified to make such judgments, that would be, Glenn Beck, PhD., in -- nothing.

Well, certainly at least, Glenn Beck, Masters degree in -- nothing again.

Glenn Beck, Bachelor's degree in something?

Uh, uh.

Two year community college?

Nope.

Glenn Beck's level of educational achievement ended with high school.

As far as I can tell from his online biography, Beck graduated high school, started working as a music DJ, turned into an alcoholic and drug addict, and then after sobering up, became a talk show host.

He's certainly well-qualified to evaluate the legal rulings and intelligence level of Sonia Sotomayor, a woman who graduated with honors from Princeton, went on to Yale Law School and then to serve for the past 11 years as a federal appeals court judge on the prestigious Second Circuit.

All those right-wing loud-mouths, like Beck, etal. are all the same...just big blow-hards who have captured the attention of brainless idiots.
