I appreciate Salon's going through these myths and providing me some counterpoints in future debates. Frankly, there are so many anti-Obama accusations out there that I've quit at trying to investigate them myself.

The most common of these myths I hear is that the President is a socialist. Unfortunately, I strongly believe that most folks leveling that accusation wouldn't be able to define socialism's basic precepts (even one or two of them), or even, those of capitalism's. I take that for most of them socialism means some bumper-sticker combination of higher taxes, no guns, no smokes, no gas guzzlers, less religion, more gays...

And more abortions. But, alas, no miniature American flags.

The article is unconvincing in its position that the "myths" are untrue. Moreover, it's a handy list of Obama weaknesses.

So many myths and fear stories, so little time.

Even with the right's penchant for fear mongering, manipulating of the ignorant followers and fact that all the republicans know how to do anymore is rant and hyperventilate, that people believe all of these myths and more.

I guess when you've had your brain stoked on fear for the past 2 decades, you have a hard time knowing reality and truth.

And for many rightwingers, I think they are addicted to the rush they get from being afraid of everything.

Wait so Salon tackles the idea that "Obama is the anti-Christ" with sections titled "What they believe" (That he's Satan's Son) and "What's Real" (No, he's not).

Yes, well thanks for "debunking" that one for me, Salon.

I love those ads that talk about the "thoughtful, penetrating writing" of Salon.

I think of them every time I see a Camille Paglia article, or the Wingnut series.

Sensationalism is the order of the day here, always has been, always will be.

I join the chorus of those wishing that Glenn Greenwald and Tom Tomorrow would find a new home. It's painful to see the rest of what's here when I come to read them.

This is insulting to your readers, and it diminishes the stature of Salon as a place of intellectual and journalistic excellence.
