The "baby killer" comments from the right highlight the trend among neoconservatives over the past decade to ignore certain (for lack of a better term) inconvenient truths. Pregnant women do not wait around for six months and then suddenly decide they don't feel like having a baby anymore. Third trimester abortions are almost always performed due to severe genetic defects discovered in the fetus late in the pregancy, which would make its survival out of the womb unlikely, or due to extreme danger to the mother's health. A person who actually was moral, as opposed to someone who used religion as a weapon, would see that there is no other ethical or humane option but abortion in such a scenario.

Let us not forget the fact that abortion is LEGAL. Premeditated murder with a firearm is not.

When you open up your legs for your boyfriend, sometimes a baby comes. By saying that abortion is not murder takes the responsibility for killing the child away. Whether you like it or not, sucking a child who could otherwise survive out of the womb is a heinous act. Just saying that it isn't murder doesn't make it not murder.
